I found Black Bear Clock repair at the Great Smokies Flea Market and after speaking with Joanie, we brought in our clock. We left our clock in good hands. She was wonderful. I have a Jaeger LeCoultre Atmos clock that belonged to my father. This clock had not worked for at least 40 years. I tried several times to find a local repair company but was unsuccessful. Very few people are qualified to work on the Atmos clock. This clock doesn't run on batteries. Neither does it have a winding mechanism. It works from the change in temperature of the room it is in. It is very much a precision instrument. By luck, I stumbled across Joanie LaTorre at a flea market in Knoxville. She had many beautiful clocks in her booth as well as an Atmos similar to mine. After talking with her, I decided to let her repair my clock. After a couple of months she returned my clock in perfect working order. She has since repaired and serviced my grandfather clock and my cuckoo clock. I think she is the best in the area and I wouldn't let anyone else work on my clocks.

Joanie has repaired two clocks for my family, and we couldn't be more pleased. She explained that the length of the time it takes for a repair is, really, determined by the clock. That is, she will make the initial needed cleaning and repairs, then set the clock to running to see how it does. By letting it run for a week or so, she can tell what and whether additional repairs and/or adjustments are to be made. Once those repairs are performed, the clock is started again and let run. Again, it may run several days, with the whole process being repeated until everything is just right. So, if a repair takes a while, you can rest comfortably knowing that you can't rush perfection. When she returns a clock to the customer, you can count on it being right. PLUS, she warrants her work. AND she delivers right to your house.
When you get your clock back and hear the same ticking, tocking, and chiming that your great grandmother heard, you'll experience something deep within yourself that cannot be explained with words.

I had four mechanical clocks that had not been working for a number of years. I located Black Bear Clock Repair and contacted the owner Joanie LaTorre. We delivered three of our clocks to get an estimate. Joanie took considerable time talking to us about our clocks and what needed to be done to get them running again. She told us the value of our clocks and encouraged us to keep them running to leave to our children and grandchildren. The cost was higher than I expected but then, I hadn't realized what it took to get them back operational. We are convinced that Joanie and Kenny know their clocks and that they took painstaking care to replace parts as needed and to ensure they were nearly as good as new as far as antiques go. They delivered our clocks (we live about 45 minutes from her workshop) and they left with the internals for our grandfather clock. About ten months after the clocks had been repaired, one started acting funny. An e-mail later, we delivered the clock for an adjustment and got it back as promised at no charge. I would give Black Bear Clock Repair six (or seven) stars if that were possible. I cannot recommend them with any stronger language.

Great experience from beginning to end. Joanie is knowledgeable and did not push a very expensive repair on us. She explained the options and recommended the less expensive fix. The clock was fixed within 30 minutes, was cleaned and shined and we left very happy. Good Christian people would recommend them to anyone needing any kind of clock repaired.

I am an avid clock collector and enthusiast. I found out about Joanie, the Clock Lady, from a Vender at the Highlands Festival in Abington Virginia. My dad had left me a Jaeger LeCoultre Atmos clock which doesn't get wound or plugged in but is the closest thing to perpetual and is very hard to find anyone to work on. I drove quite a distance to have Joanie work on that clock for me and I see now why a man in Virginia recommended someone who was so far away, he said she was worth it. Joanie has now repaired about a dozen or more of my clocks. She gives free estimates and sticks to them no matter how much extra work she finds the clock may need. I don't bother her timeframe wise when she has them for I know she calls when it's done. She stands behind her guarantee for sure. She has several of my clocks right now - so I highly recommend her. Took an old mantle clock we bought at a yard sale to Joanie, got a history lesson and the clock repaired! She was great to work with!! Her knowledge on clocks is amazing! She fixed it, and showed us everything we need to do to keep it running for years to come. We will be taking our other old clocks and watches to her for repairs.
