General Info: City Mission of Schenectady, founded in 1906, is a nonprofit Christian organization that serves homeless, needy and poor people. Its food services program provides meals to its residents, as well as bagged meals and food boxes in emergency situations. The organization s community outreach department assists individuals and families with basic needs of food, clothing and household items. Its outreach program involves youths, teenagers and parents in several clubs and Bible study, tutoring and mentoring activities. The organization also offers a summer day camp program that includes a range of recreational programs, field trips, arts and crafts, and camping and educational activities. Additionally, it offers emergency shelter, life skills training, transitional housing, job opportunities and medical care. The organization is located in Schenectady, N.Y.
