Teeth Cleaning

Fillings
Silver amalgam fillings, which are composed of 50% mercury and 50% silver alloy,eventually need to be replaced. It may surprise you to know that the average life span of a silver filling is five to eight years. Your dentist can tell you when they appear to NEED to be replaced due to leakage, breakdown or recurrent decay. If your concern is strictly COSMETIC, there are many new methods available to replace the fillings with beautiful, functional long lasting restorations. Such things as white filling materials, porcelain inlays, crowns and veneers may be used to give you the smile you are seeking. There is currently a great deal of interest in new reinforced hybrid materials. These beautiful resin materials may be reinforced with fibers, similar to fiberglass, and used in very conservative inlays and bridges without having to grind away a whole healthy tooth.
Veneers
Our goal is to help you to look and feel your best when it comes to your smile. There are numerous options available through our office to whiten your teeth so you feel confident when you smile. Crowns
Often you can save yourself a trip to the office if you can simply clean the inside of the temporary off and reposition it back in place. Be sure to lightly rinse off the area where the temporary crown was and orient the temporary back on the tooth. Generally a temporary is only protecting the prepared tooth and this is not urgent, however, it should be replaced. Do NOT let a tooth go more than a couple days without a temporary back over it, as leakage can occur and you risk reinfection. Dental adhesive powder or even a small amount of toothpaste works well to help hold it in place until you can make it to the office.

Root Canal Treatment
If the pain only lasts for a few seconds, then it is often related to a small exposure close to the root. In this case, avoiding hot and cold, and even placing some vaseline over the area can protect the tooth for a short while until you can get in to have us look at it. If the pain persists more that one minute after it is exposed to hot or cold, it often means that the nerve have been infected. This could mean that we will need to do a root canal to save the tooth. If Advil or Tylenol won't take away the pain, then this is probably what we will need to do to get you out of pain. Never put aspirin on the tissue in your mouth directly. It can easily burn the tissue.

Dentures
Although dental implants often provide the optimum balance between function and anesthetics, there are several less-invasive cosmetic dentistry options which can be used to replace missing teeth. Dental bridges are custom-made devices, fused between two crowns that replace missing teeth. Dentures can be used if you are missing all your teeth

I have been in the Bay Area since 2004 and currently reside with my family in Santa Clara. I have been in the field of dentistry since 1994. I consider myself fortunate to have studied dentistry in Europe and the US, as both schools of thought have contributed to the professional I am today. Dugoni School of Dentistry, and have ongoing access to many of the Post-Graduate Professors I have studied with. When selecting courses I always seek out the top instructors in the field. Some people assume they will lose their teeth as they age, but that doesn't have to happen. David A. Albert, D.D.S., M.P.H., assistant professor of clinical dentistry at the Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery, suggests these steps to keep your teeth and your mouth healthy.

Braces
The staff of this office is very friendly, this used to be Dr Pedrazzi's office, however he is retiring and decided to sell the practice, and Dr Vladescu took over his practice. I've never been a patient of Dr Pedrazzi but I heard he is very good, he still works there as an associate. Dr Vladescu was very good and was very attentive, it was a painless experience. Similarly, I was amazed by the proficiency of her assistant, I currently have braces and Juliette(her assistant) was able to take them off and put them back with such an ease. This was the first time when a doctor took the time to take the braces off for cleaning. It shows that Dr Vladescu doesn't settle for half jobs.

Teeth Whitening
News People who whiten their teeth have less periodontal (gum) disease. The Hydrogen Peroxide in the whitening solutions kills a lot of the bacteria responsible for the disease.
