In the history of the dental school, whose records go back to 1936, he is the only dentist to have graduated with a straight “A” record. In addition, Dr. Smith finished the 4 year program in 3 years which was also “a first” for the school. Consequently, Marquette created an advanced training residency for Dr. Smith in periodontics, endodontics, fixed and removable prosthodontics, and oral surgery for his 4th year of training.

Randey’s specialty is in creating porcelain veneers, crowns and bridges with all of the subtle nuances of natural teeth so that every tooth we restore or replace appears exactly as a real tooth, unlike most restored teeth which look obviously opaque, monochromatic and false. Some examples of Randey’s expertise are illustrated in the following cases that Dr. Smith has completed...
Crowns
The following “before and after” radiographs demonstrate dental implants supporting splinted and individual crowns: The “after” radiograph illustrates the reconstruction after seven years of function.
Bridges
The following “before and after” radiographs demonstrates a full-mouth rehabilitation utilizing maxillary sinus bone grafts and dental implants supporting fixed bridges and individual crowns.

The patient featured below was unable to retain and use her lower denture. Seven implants supporting three tissue bars were placed 20 years ago. These photographs and one radiograph illustrate the implants, tissue bars, attachments and dentures. She has been able to eat practically anything ever since with no retention problems.
The following case illustrates how we can grow bone in the maxillary sinus: Radiograph #1 shows an “empty” sinus; #2 shows the same sinus after grafting and maturation with approximately 20mm. of usable bone; and #3 shows the sinus following placement of four 15mm. implants.
Since 1982, Dr. Smith has worked closely with his son, Mr. Randey C. Smith, CDT, on all porcelain cosmetic cases. He is one of only ten members in the United States of the prestigious Oral Design International Teaching Group. Mr. Smith regularly conducts seminars throughout the United States and Canada and is a guest lecturer at the UCLA Center for Esthetic Dentistry and the NYU School of Dentistry.
