Great care and service, but you have never truly felt "nickeled-and-dimed" until you've left this office. Post-Surgery collar that sells online for $4 will cost you $10. HomeAgain Microchip registration that is supposed to cost $14.99 will cost you $16.99. The local emergency vet, which will almost always cost you more than a day practice vet, is actually cheaper than this place.

Horrible. All they care about is the money. Our youngest dog started out very healthy. We took him back for a hair cut and they knocked him out to where he couldn't even walk. They kept doing it even after we complained and voice our very unhappy opinions. He had kidney stones here lately. They said it was a urinary track infection, but they were wrong. He went untreated for a month. They act like you ruin their day when you ask them questions. We left our two dogs with them when we went on vacation. We gave them all of our cell phone numbers like they asked. Apparently our youngest dog got sick while we were gone but we never got a phone call. They ran up our bill to $400. They didn't care. They said they called but we never got a call. Horrible place. Our dog doesn't even like to go for car rides because he fears we're taking him back.

When my kitten was under a year old I started to notice something was very wrong. I did the research and suspected he either had heartworms or feline asthma. I took him to my regular vet, voiced my concerns, and they treated me like a new mother who thought every little cough was pneumonia. "It's nothing. Don't worry about it". Well guess what? He eventually developed pneumonia from the asthma that had taken over his poor little lungs. It was a long and arduous road to get him stabilized- but its almost three years later and he's doing just fine. He sometimes goes months without having an attack. The second vet who listened to my concerns patiently? Who gave me resources to help? Understood my financial situation and tried every treatment to find the right balance for my pet? Animal Care Center of Salem. They were absolutely wonderful, and because they listened to me and my cat, were doing just fine. I recommend them to anyone.
