Primary Care
Radiologists are medical physicians who specialize in diagnosing diseases using medical imaging. Radiologists are the eyes of medicine working with primary care and specialty physicians to diagnose and care for the ill.
Smoking Cessation
Current smokers who participate in the screening will be offered information about smoking cessation, along with other types of cancer screening examinations. In addition, financial assistance may be available through the Hospital’s Charitable Foundation for those facing financial challenges.
Colonoscopy
Age 45** and continuing at 5 year intervals. Anthem, Medical Mutual, Cigna, United Healthcare, Blue Cross, Unicare, and others now recognize the importance of Screening Virtual CT Colonoscopy and cover the examination on a plan-by-plan basis. Salem Regional Medical Center’s employee health plan covers this screening examination at 100%. Note, Medicare does not cover asymptomatic screening at this time. A self-pay option is available.
Urinary Incontinence
Useful for diagnosis of Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH-dementia, gate disturbance, and urinary Incontinence), Chiari I, unexplained headaches, tinnitus, dementia, urinary incontinence, balance issues, and cognitive deficits.

Kidney Stones
The new Dual-128 scanner at Salem Regional Medical Center Hospital has a unique capability not found in other area CT scanners called Dual Energy Imaging. With two x-ray tubes, the CT scanner can determine the composition of kidney stones which can be useful to separate medical management and lithotripsy.
Ovarian Cancer
• 3T MRI Breast benefits patients with the Breast Cancer (BRCA) gene and those with strong family history of cancer (breast/ovarian cancer in relatives under the age of 50).
Colon Cancer
Colon cancer is the third most common kind of cancer beyond lung, breast, and prostate, but it is a leading cause of cancer death because most people will not take the time to be screening. This is unfortunate since colon cancer grows slowly and can be easily detected and cured. The most common symptoms of colon cancer are change in bowel habits, bleeding, and dark stools. Recommended screening for colon cancer begins at age 50 before symptoms appear and continues at 5 or 10 year intervals.
Prostate Cancer
Useful for diagnosis, staging, and post-treatment monitoring of prostate cancer. This test is also designed for patients with suspected prostate cancer and rising PSA without source. If you have been biopsied before without diagnosis, consider a 3T MRI.
Lung Cancer
A recent article in the New England Journal of Medicine based on the National Lung Cancer Screening Trial proved that patients at high risk for lung cancer who are followed by annual low-dose CTs have a 20% reduction in lung cancer deaths compared with using traditional chest x-rays.

MRI

Services at both locations are accredited by the American College of Radiology, the nation’s leading agency for quality assurance in medical imaging.
X-Rays
Nuclear Medicine
Radiologists use x-rays, ultrasound, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and MR angiography (MRA), mammography, nuclear medicine (NM), positron emission tomography (PET/CT), and perform angiography to image the body. Radiologists also perform invasive procedures using these technologies.
Mammography

Computed Tomography
To help improve a lung cancer patient’s chance of survival, a new annual low-dose CT (computed tomography) lung cancer screening program is now available at Salem Regional Medical Center in Salem, Ohio.
