Red Devil Fishing Adventures

My father in law, son , daughter, and I had a great time with Captain John. We caught a lot of fish and my son brought in his first king, a 20+ lb fish! We'll be back!! Thanks for the fine memories Captain John.

So, I have now used Capt John a dozen times but this time topped the cake. Had a buddy in town that had never been fishing on BIG water, John took the time to call us to prepare Paul to get on the Gulf(so he wouldn't get sea sick) and enjoy the day fishing, honestly we didn't even think of that, it stood out!!!

We went out and after a slow start we slayed some gills like we haven't done since our humble beginnings on the Wisconsin River( only Grouper tastes better). Not a big review guy but Capt John stepped up and made us feel like our money was worth family. Highly recommended!!!

Been fishing with captain John for years. We catch coolers full every time. Always a memory maid and fish to go in the freezer. Very professional and a great captain.

I have gone fishing Multiple times With Red Devil and have done very well! Captain works hard to find fish and makes it a great day!

TERRIBLE "ADVENTURE"- Had a Groupon for a half-day"Red Devil Fishing Adventures" fishing trip in Gulf of Mexico. Two years ago tried to book a date for 3 of us but he was booked for the entire next month, apparently flooded with Groupons, and later would not fit in our schedule. He extended Groupon expiration, and I tried again in November and again he was booked beyond when we could go. Finally was able to book April ,2013 charter. Captain cancelled us an hour before that trip was to leave, though weather and all was confirmed night before as a "go". Extended again, called in March. Finally mid-April, 2014 got a confirmed date for morning trip, arrived at designated Ft. Desoto boat launch at 7:15 as required, to find Red Devil truck and boat trailer but no boat. Phoned him several times- he had phone turned off. Left message which was never returned. We waited and waited and exactly one hour after we were supposed to depart the boat showed up. Captain John threw two men off the boat that he had mistaken for our party of 3, and had taken them 9 miles out in the Gulf before discovering they had the wrong names,wrong party size, no Groupon- nothing matched our party. We left over one hour late. He said he would try to make up the lost time but had an afternoon party going out, so they would have to wait like us an extra hour wondering what happened (he never tried to phone them the whole time we were out fishing). Fishing was decent, marred by Captain's inability to gaff a 20 lb kingfish we had at the side of the boat- on third try he knocked the fish off. .That member of our party was REALLY irate. Otherwise Captain was helpful replacing lost rigs, cutting bait etc. However, we feared for our fish as he brought NO ICE to put in fish "cooler" although his website promised this (standard on ANY fishing boat), so they sat in 80-plus degree heat the whole trip. Trip back was a bone-jarring, slamming ride as he pushed the boat at 30 mph (4000rpm) thru 2-3' waves to get back as fast as he could. By far the worst charter I have ever taken, anywhere.

We had a great time with prompt courteous service. Caught so many fish my arm was sore for days. Will book again. Pm

dont bother. You will be lucky if they show up. I had a 1/2 day trip confirmed on Monday 6/4 for fishing on the morning of 6/10. After getting there with my 14 yr old son and meeting a friend and his 13 yr old at 0630 for a 0700 departure, the Red Devil was nowhere to be seen. My friend and I both called and left messages, and at 0830, we left. To this day, the loser has not had the courtesy of returning either of our calls.

I bought a groupon for a 4 hour fishing trip, I made our reservations in March and the soonest we could get out was June 10th. The day of the trip June 10th (the first sunny day in a week) I receive a call at 11:00 AM, about an our before we were going to leave for the boat ramp, from Cpt. John. He has an excuse that his boat in having electrical problems and he cannot take us out. Then I called back 6 times without an answer (I wonder what Cpt. john could have been doing?). The next day after calling 3 more times I got an answer and was informed we would have to wait 6 more months to go fishing! This is a terribly run operation and i would not recomend it to anyone, not even my worst enemy. Thankfully groupon gave me a refund and a $10.00 credit on top of it.
