The Roosevelt/Freeport Family Development Center offers a variety of community programs. It provides opportunities for youth leadership development through local youth councils. The center also offers tutorial and homework assistance, as well as the English as a Second Language program. The Roosevelt/Freeport Family Development Center organizes workshops on topics related to health and nutrition. The center is located in Roosevelt, N.Y., and is owned and operated by the Economic Opportunity Commission, which offers various programs to improve the quality of life for low-income families. It focuses on health care, HIV/AIDS, housing, drug abuse prevention, education, employment, infant mortality, youth violence and economic development issues. The parent company offers Head Start early childhood, down state prenatal, HIV/AIDS outreach and awareness and youth development programs.
