Zen Spa & Skin Care

My sister and I had been to Zen before and had a nice experience so we were looking forward to going back. This time it was totally different. The women did good work and the facilities are nice but the owner/manager (male) treated us like we were not as important as everyone else. We were not wearing makeup or anything fancy and apparently they judge their clientele by how they perceive the amount of money you have. We were not offered beverages and it was apparent that everyone else was being treated really well and offered wine or soda. It was my sister's birthday so I mentioned to the manager that we would love some wine (like everyone else in the spa) and he made a comment about how we were almost finished and acted put out by the mention of it. Then, while everyone else clearly got to choose their wine choice and most had red or white, we were brought tiny glasses with white zin because I guess he thought we looked like that was the quality of wine we deserved. My glass had someone else's lip gloss on it and it really hurt our feelings to be judged in that way. Do I even need to mention that we both do pretty well financially and have professional jobs? Even if we didn't, no one should be treated like they are "lower class" because of their appearance. If you want to be judged on how much money the owner perceives you have and treated accordingly, then this place is fine. If decide that you dont want to get all dressed up to go and get beauty services, I would skip this place, as they will treat you like you are trash. I shouldn't have to feel bad about myself for choosing not to wear makeup one day. And I didn't get two professional degrees and work in a high dollar, highly professional field to be treated the way the owner treated me. It was offensive and disrespectful. In the past we had purchased friends and family members gift certificates to this place as gifts and recommended it to all of our friends in the area. We will never encourage anyone to go here again and will definitely not be back ourselves. Very sad experience.
