This 1970's garrison-colonial house was converted into a beautiful craftsman-style home with lots of porches and interesting rooflines to break up the original boxy look. Virtually every room in the house was remodeled, except the kitchen. The project consisted of three additions, totaling 805 sf of additional space (or 1,300 sf including the porches). The music room and formal living room showcased our carpenters' custom-built cabinetry and created a home for Erik and Elizabeth's extensive music collection.
Bathroom Remodeling
While the home was lovely to begin with, the owners needed it to be extensively remodeled to accommodate their family and frequent house guests. Renovations included several additions, a kitchen and several bathroom remodels, a screen porch, bunk and game rooms, and updates throughout. With orange and yellow being the homeowners favorite colors, they made frequent appearances and really brightened things up.

Framing
The attached barn presented its own unique challenges because of the sloping site. We could have brought in a considerable amount of fill to make the parking floor of the garage level with the house, but instead we decided to create a basement in the garage to gain storage space. The steel framing and suspended slab required to do this did cost more, but it was worth it.

Fireplaces
I always love photographing fireplaces because sitting by a fire inside and outside at my own home is one of my favorite things to do. It’s not always easy to shoot a double-sided fireplace and show the connection to all of the rooms. Here, I was able...

Carpeting
The original space was heated with tongue and groove wood on the walls. The carpeting had been there for approximately twenty years and had some serious pet odor. To create a fun and liveable space for kids to play and guests to visit...
When it comes to fine-home building in Vermont – new home construction, a renovation, or an addition – we care deeply about every part of the process. There’s so much information to manage and so many options to choose from. At the end of the day, our job is to make the building process easier for our clients, collaborate with their architects and designers, and do everything possible to give them the home they’ve been dreaming about.
“We just listened to them, to try to find out what they wanted to do,” says Chris diStefano, owner of diStafano Landscaping, Inc. in Jericho. “We walked the property with them. It was a raw piece of land. They...
Driveways
Though their century-old barn was beautiful and majestic, it was also located in an inconvenient spot. We built a substantial new foundation, jacked up the barn, and repositioned it closer to the driveway. Finally, we patched the barn boards on the existing structure and build a garage addition off the driveway.
Once a single-family home, we transformed this early-1900's farmhouse into an energy-efficient office space and yoga studio. The building now boasts new Marvin Elevate replacement windows, energy-efficient lighting and heating, insulation (it had none!), and a standing-seam roof.

Siding
With the resort going through a significant redevelopment from a sleepy ski hill to a four-season destination, we were hired to help with the construction of a new hotel and lodge. We installed the windows, exterior trim, and a combination of clapboard, shingle, and board-and-batten siding.

Residential Roof Replacement/Installation
Reap Construction’s roots are in the roofing trade. We started building roofs out of necessity, applying the same level of detail we bring to every project to what is such a critical part of every home. We’re experienced at installing asphalt-shingle roofs, standing-seam-metal roofs, copper roofs, and slate roofs all over Vermont.
There are many custom carpentry details within this home that highlight the skills of our crew. We milled and installed custom baseboards, seven built-ins, wainscoting, and two complex tongue and groove ceilings. While it's easy to talk about the aesthetics of this home, the quality of the construction and materials deserve mention as well. From the foundation and the frame to the standing-seam metal roof, this house will stand the test of time with style and character.
Insulation
“We needed to have our roof completely re-built to solve several problems including inadequate insulation. It required an unusual approach and after talking to three other builders — all of whom said “no thanks” — Bob Reap agreed to take on the job.
Masonry
This modern farmhouse sits at an elevation of 1,180 feet and feels like its floating in the clouds. An open floor plan and large oversized island make for great entertaining. Other features include custom barn doors and island front, soapstone counters, walk-in pantry and Tulukivi soapstone masonry fireplace with pizza oven.
