Operational since 1918, the West Contra Costa YMCA is a membership-based, community service, nonprofit organization that offers a range of community and youth development programs. It provides child care programs for more than 10 elementary schools throughout the West Contra Costa Unified School District and Alameda County in California. The organization additionally conducts fitness classes and offers several after-school programs, including homework assistance, games, video play production, cooking and dance classes, field trips, and arts and crafts. The West Contra Costa YMCA provides a variety of sports activities, such as basketball, flag football and soccer. In addition, it organizes sport and adventure camps. The organization is located in Richmond, Calif., and is operated by the YMCA of the East Bay.
