I purchased a handgun 2/5/14.No problem. I go to purchase a second on 2/16/14 and all the sudden we have a problem. I had a permit over 1 year old, same as the last permit. They are valid for 5 years. The salesperson told me he would have to run a NIX background check because the ATF said they encourage FFL dealers to do so. Really? So I have a valid permit in NC, but they want to do a second background check. Being it was a Sunday, they got a delay on the check. So I go to Gunrunners in N Raleigh and purchase the EXACT same pistol with the same EXACT permit No problems at all. Hmmmm. Oh, 10 dollars cheaper too. So today I speak to the owner and get the same answer as to the second background check. I asked him why no second check the first time and he said he will talk to that employee that didn't follow "procedure".I called ALL the other dealers around here and NONE have heard of that. Hmmm. I visit the sheriffs office and called the ATF and both don't know what he is talking about. Hmmmm. Only difference between the visits was I was by my self the first time with no extra background check. The second time my girl was with me. ONLY difference. No check the first time, check the second time. As much as I hate to think about it she is mixed Black and White. I'm white. you tell me...As soon as the salesman saw her with me is when he "needed to do the additional background check". Like I said, I hate to believe that was the problem. She owns 2 firearms and is far from a criminal. Oh well, I know where not to go anymore. Their loss.

Poor customer service seems to be their specialty. When I finally get someone to come out to show me a gun they argue about what gun I really should be looking for instead of letting me see the ones I have specifically asked for. Even when the salesman finally let me see the gun they continued to tell me that I needed a 45 or a shotgun and tried to scare me into buying that with some pretty ridiculous statements. What is funny is that the weapon I was looking at was recommended specifically by an instructor who teaches at that facility and that I have a lot of respect for. Their sales and range staff (except Chris who is excellent), not so much to respect. If you do go there ask for Chris. We bought a new Kimber at Perrys and will be picking up 2 more guns there next week.

I recently went into the store and was very upset at wasting my time driving there. I travel from gun store to gun store. I really do not like it when somebody tells me I can't fire a mp5 anywhere else. Wrong! I believe that $ 49.95 to fire thirty rounds from a magazine is way to much. Six dollars worth the ammo and the rest must be their cleaning fee on a simple weapon to clean. Ammo is overpriced, overcrowded, and rude staff. I would not recommend this store to anybody. Stay away and learn the self protection of your wallet from common crooks.
