Paul Mitchell The School Raleigh

This was my first visit to Paul Mitchell School referred by my daughter. First let me tell you, I have thick, coarse, gray hair and have difficulty finding someone who could tame the mane. I have actually been turned away by a stylist once she took a look at my hair. I keep the general attitude.....it’s hair, if anything goes wrong it will grow back, plus the price .....phenominal. My appointment was with Sydney, a friend of my daughter. She looked at a pic of what I was looking for and was “warned” of my hair. She was up for the challenge. And a challenge it was. The style was a bob with a dramatic angle to length in the front. Sydney NAILED IT! Not only was I impressed, but her teachers/instructors were as well. Understand, this is a school of cosmetology so spend time letting a student learn! I have rebooked already and plan on following Sydney once she graduates in December.

************WARNING YOU************ BEFORE YOU THINK THAT BECAUSE IS A PAUL MICHELLE SALON YOU GOING TO BE TREATED RIGHT, THIS WAS THE WORST SALON EXPERIENCE EVER, of my life entire life , by far! I got to the salon at 9:30 AM for color and haircut and END up leaving the salon at 8 PM, after been threatened by receptionist on calling the police on me because I refused to pay the $200+ they wanted me to pay for FRYING MY HAIR.

Very unprofessional....TOTALLY CARE LESS...This nightmare experience took 10 hours ! The place is totally unprofessional. The teachers have no idea of what they are doing. And of course Now I have to go pay someone else to correct the damages done to me hair. And is not going to be cheap . This is the same thing that happened to someone else in here, who wrote a review and I ignored , so I am warning you ....AVOID THIS PLACE NOT PROFESSIONAL AT ALL.

If you are seeking to go to cosmetology school here, DO NOT GO HERE! In my student career, I've experienced nothing but trouble. The staff are ABSOLUTELY disorganized, unstable and they show favoritism to different students. When you try to graduate, things concerning finances, are mentioned to you at the last minute and you are not released until you pay THE SCHOOL. There are two different payments. One payment to who financed your loan for your contracted hours and then to the school for when you go over your contracted hours. It is nearly impossible to graduate on time because it is up to you to bring people in. If you were a student like me, I did not have family supporting me to get me through school. I only had myself. So Stay away from here. You are better off going to Sherril's, Miller mont, or wake tech for a cosmetology school. Its amazing how the teachers got certified because even though these teachers can do excellent art in hair, they are terrible educators. The two teachers "Chloe and Sara", are not of any help what so ever. So if you decide to go here, you better know somebody who can help you or say a prayer everyday because its absolutely a test of your patience.

WORST HAIRCUT AND EXPERIENCE of my life by far! I purchased a Groupon for a treatment and haircut and I went in for a simple long bob cut with a few layers at the end. The girl butchered my hair! Ended up with a long, stacked shag on one side, chunks missing on the other side and short layers on top! A second girl attempted to fix it but it was basically beyond repair. The so called "instructor" acted like it wasn't a big deal and never even apologized for what this student did to my hair! I could've done a better job myself blind folded! Very unprofessional and did not even attempt to compensate in any manner! This nightmare experience took 4 hours as well! The place is totally unprofessional with music blaring and young girls running around chatting around you like it is a slumber party. I could've tolerated that had I gotten at least a decent cut. Now I have to go pay someone else to correct what's left of my hair. AVOID THIS PLACE.

NEVER EVER GET YOUR HAIR DONE HERE, You think of the name Paul Mitchell and you think wow, Let me try this out. I hate giving this place 1 star. I was there to get color/cut, just a simple brown color and cut. The student and the instructors turned my hair bright orange and yellow and my hair was so uneven, I had to end up going the next day to someone and pay $200 to fix the damage. DONT FOOL YOURSELF, I won't get fooled again.

I would actually put 0 stars it if would allow me.

I went to this school as a student. I went on two tours with one of the owners. The owners are married and have no education in cosmetology. Do know, this was unknown going in.

He really knows how to sell you on this school, they were so friendly and all the "learning leaders" as they called teachers seemed so wonderful. They sold me on the place.

So we did the paper work paying THOUSANDS of dollars, I paid monthly, roughly $730 so I didn't have to go through Sallie Mae. Well going from there I soon began with the night program.. In core, the teacher was HORRIFIC! There were 5 of us in the class. We ALL complained many times about this teacher! So they would bring in another teacher and we would have to sit in a circle and say one thing we like and dislike about each other.. So unprofessional!!

As the core class went on we learned very little! All the girls that were there already said tough it out, it gets better once you are on the floor. At that time we figured out the teachers are NOT paul mitchell certified!

So once out of core and with very little knowledge we begin working on mannequins and taking little classes. Still never learning anything. From there we got to I think 300 hours and began taking clients and doing each others hair. My hair was BUTCHERED! I got to the point I would not allow anyone to touch my hair.

Also do know I am left handed.. there was only ONE other student that was left handed as well. When we would ask for help the teacher would say just do it backwards! You can not just do a hair cute "backwards". So as the two of us would complain about this issue nothing was ever done to help.

It eventually got to the point of having such horrible teachers to paying tons on money and learning nothing.

At one point I had to go to a professional outside of PM to try and fix my hair and he happened to be the owner of Mitchells! He was great but he informed me of how horrible PM was. He had a few people come to him recently graduated from PM and he was not able to hire them for lack of knowledge.

To sum it all up you are PAYING FOR THE NAME, NOT THE EDUCATION.

Sad.

So I eventually withdrew from the school, only to be told I owe over 4 thousand dollars!
