Overall

my husband has had bad sciatic...

my husband has had bad sciatic pain for the past few years. now that he is a patient of De Cresenzo Chiropractic it has almost vanished. he is feeling better and more active. he even sleeps better. they are extremely nice and friendly, easy to work with. if you need to get in for an emergency they will gladly fit you in even if it is before your next appointment. they are awesome.

Ultrasound Therapy
Ultrasound therapy: This therapy uses either very high-energy or low-energy sound, both of which are outside the range of normal human hearing. The chiropractor uses a device that emits focused sound waves that penetrate deep into body tissue. Sound waves can relax muscles, alleviate pain, and reduce inflammation. Intersegmental Traction
Since discs have a poor blood supply, they get nutrients from the circulation of fluids surrounding spinal joints. Fixations prevent this natural circulation and can cause disc thinning and degeneration. Intersegmental traction helps increase and restores necessary elasticity and motion to the spine.
Stretching
Soft tissue manipulation is another common technique used when treating muscle spasms. Treatment can include therapeutic stretching and massage therapy. These types of treatments help to reduce fluid, decrease scar tissue and provide relief for muscle spasms.
Subluxation
Diversified Technique is the classic chiropractic technique, developed by D.D. Palmer, DC., and taught in all chiropractic colleges. Diversified Technique was refined and developed by the late Otto Reinert, DC, to address bio-mechanical failure in each section of the spine, as it relates to specific subluxation. The focus is on restoration to normal bio-mechanical function and correction of subluxation.
Manipulation Therapy
Your first visit will begin with a consultation. Your doctor will take a full medical history and ask you about your present condition. Next, the doctor will perform an examination to evaluate the nature of your problem. This examination generally includes a series of basic physical tests, as well as a specialized chiropractic evaluation of spinal movements and posture. Your first visit will take approximately 45 minutes to an hour. Not all patients will receive spinal manipulation on the initial visit; this is a clinical decision and varies from patient to patient. For those patients who do receive spinal manipulation on the initial visit, it may be a normal occurrence to feel mild discomfort. To help alleviate this, you should ice the affected regions 10 minutes on and 15 minutes off, one to three times on the day of your first treatment.

Myofascial Therapy
Myofascial Release is a safe and effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the Myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion. This essential “time element” has to do with the viscous flow and the piezoelectric phenomenon: a low load (gentle pressure) applied slowly will allow a viscoelastic medium (fascia) to elongate.

Flexion-Distraction, (F/D) is a gentle, chiropractic treatment procedure utilized for back and neck pain. Flexion-Distraction is a safe alternative to back surgery for those 95% of patients whose conditions do not demand surgical intervention. Your Chiropractic Physician at DeCrescenzo Chiropractic will begin by determining the cause of your numbness and tingling by obtaining an accurate medical history and by performing a physical exam. This may also include orthopedic and neurologic testing. Further evaluations may be needed to determine the cause or extent of your condition, which might include: blood tests, CT scan, MRI, vascular ultrasound, or electro diagnostic testing such as nerve conduction velocity studies. If the doctor determines that your condition may respond well to chiropractic care, a chiropractic care plan will be created for you that aims to eliminate irritation and restore proper function of the nerves. In addition to chiropractic care, this care plan may include physical therapy to reduce inflammation, and/or nutritional and lifestyle coaching to address any possible metabolic causes of your symptoms. Painful conditions may also be addressed with acupuncture.

Disc Herniation Treatment
As mentioned previously, the likelihood of a disc herniation increases with age, but is most pronounced in 30 and 40 year olds. While pain is the most common symptom of disc herniations, the majority of disc bulges and problems are asymptomatic. Remember, that disc issues are only painful when they have progressed far enough to push on a surrounding nerve structure. When pain is present, it is usually noticed in the area of the herniation and when involving the low back is present throughout the buttocks, hips, and often legs. In addition to pain, patients with disc herniations often experience numbness, tingling, and weakness throughout various portions of their legs. People may also have difficulty standing on their heels or toes and begin to notice that their toe drags when walking. If the condition is allowed to advance far enough, ominous symptoms of problems going to the bathroom and sexual dysfunction may be present.
