Since your primary care physician may not have access to your eye doctor’s medical records, be sure to ask your doctor if your current medications will affect your cataracts. After completing his bachelor’s degree, he attended Mercer University School of Medicine where he graduated in 2008. Upon completion of his Doctor of Medicine degree, he attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and concluded an internship in General Surgery. Dr. Hinson completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of South Carolina where he served as Chief Resident his senior year.

Laser Eye Surgery
Have had previous laser eye surgery. Many people undergo laser eye surgery to enable them to see clearly without using glasses or contact lenses. However, dry eyes are a common temporary side effect of laser eye surgeries such as PRK or LASIK.
Cataracts
Steroid eye drops are routinely prescribed to treat dry eyes or an arthritic flare-up in the eyes. Unfortunately, they can also speed up the progression of cataracts. Talk to your Optometrist about how you can manage both conditions without inadvertently making your cataracts worse – and hastening the need for surgery.
Cataract Surgery
If you’ve been diagnosed with cataracts, you may wonder if cataract surgery is right around the corner. Not to worry. There are many preventive steps you can take to slow the progression of cataracts and preserve your vision. That doesn’t mean you won’t eventually need surgery, but you can at least delay the need for quite a while.
Eye Exam
Many of our patients recognize the importance of getting a routine eye exam to check their vision and alert them to any issues with their sight. However, these routine eye exams are often called eye screenings and pale in comparison to a comprehensive eye exam. At Advanced Eyecare Center, we want to make sure that we offer our patients an entire suite of options to make sure that they have the best vision possible, and comprehensive eye exams are just one of the tools we use.
