Bonnie B's Smokin BBQ Heaven

this place is amazing.. I love it they are very hospitable, the environment. is very welcoming. best thing in Pasadena ?

i have only had food delivered from this new restaurant. i have not actually dined in, so i cannot accurately speak on that. very simply, the meat served here is fabulous. great smoke flavor, tender and juicy. if you like delicious, smoked bbq, this is a must try. even the bologna(yes, bologna) is awesome! and for $5 for a bologna sandwich with side, a great deal. i made 2 ginormous sandwiches from my lunch sized portion.

now, the sauce. i cannot imagine describing this sauce as "award winning", unless the award was for contention for worst sauce... the heaviest flavor that comes through is that of A1(you know, the steak sauce). it seems that the last few times the food has come, the sauce had a heavier influence of brown sugar, which did make it a little better. i still would not offend good bbq sauce by calling this sauce decent.

the side dishes that i have tried are the baked beans, potato salad, mac & cheese and candied yams. the baked beans to me were more of a ranch style, in their own juice, as opposed to a thick, seasoned "baked" variety. they were not bad, but definitely not great. the potato salad is more than adequate and the mac & cheese is more mac than cheese, and not a very creamy variation. the candied yams are the best side i have tried. i like my yams rich and sweet, and these fit the bill perfectly.

to recap, the meat is the real star here. if you are a carnivore, do yourself a favor and give bonnie b's a try. the meat is why i will say that the overall rating is very good. with some fine tuning, exceptional would not be out of the question.
