Brushwood Apartments

I am a first time renter and Brushwood has been amazing to rent from. Any issues I have went to them about, they are there within 24 hours to take care of it! I am so glad I chose brushwood apartments to rent from. I highly recommend them.

We lived at Brushwood for 6 months. We were thankful that they let us sign a 6 month lease (for an additional $100/mo). The closets are big and the complex feels safe. The location is convenient and they responded quickly when our thermostat quit. I asked for an apartment that did not smell like smoke and they found us one in which the previous renter had not smoked. This was fine for a month until new renters (who were smokers) moved in across from us and the smoke came in through the gaps around our bathroom pipes under the sink. Apparently the bathrooms back up to each other and it completely filled our apartment with the overwhelming smell. I also had to tell the college age neighbors who lived diagonally up from us that it was 3 AM a few times. They would be laughing loud on their deck and the windows are thin... They always appologized and went in at that point, but it did wake us up a few times. Just a little annoying, but that's apartment life. In spite of these negatives, I probably would have still given them five stars until we moved out. They provide a full size washer and dryer and have a nice pool and fine work out room. The landscaping is really nice and again, it's just a really convenient location.



Now for the low rating... We only lived there for 6 months. We are nonsmokers and I was very careful to not put a single nail hole in the walls. I cleaned perfectly for move-out. The place was spotless. We had always paid our rent early. After we moved out we got a letter saying we had a past due balance on our account. It said, Payment must be made in full within 7 days to avoid collection or legal proceedings which may negatively affect your credit report. What they were calling a past due balance was a full paint charge of $285. On our lease it said we would have to pay for any painting that was beyond normal wear and tear. I asked what damage to the paint they were talking about that was beyond normal wear and tear and they produced pictures that didn't show anything. I asked if I had any options as I didn't feel this was a fair charge and was told I could fight it in court. I think the letter was rude to a tennent who had taken extreme care of the apartment and paid all rent early and I feel the painting they charged me for was not damage from me but routine maintenance. I would caution anyone before they consider renting at Brushwood that they could be surprised with large maintenance charges when they move out.

After living there for two years, it has been the best apartment to live at, with great accommendations, staff and service team, and at an affordable price! I would highly recommend this complex!!

Nice apartments. Big closets. Dumb as bricks and slimey as used car salesmen Office staff. They'll lie to get you to do what they want and ALWAYS play the dumb office staff vs corporate office requirements card. I would have looked elsewhere but the internet is almost like a foreign concept here. What year is is?
