o not use this practice for your vision related needs! While the patient care staff and physicians are adequate, this cannot be said for the billing and practice manager "Genie". After a recent routine eye exam and contact renewal for my husband, whom is also diabetic but suffers no diabetic ophthalmologic manifestations, we received a bill (in addition to what was paid for contacts) for the sum of nearly $180.00. This was unexpected as we have great vision insurance and yearly routine exams are fully covered. When my husband called to discuss this issue, it took a tots of 4 calls and and very snotty message left by "Genie" stating that "well it is your responsibility to tell us this is a routine exam, since you have a medical diagnosis (diabetes) we billed your medical insurance and the remainder is your responsibility".

This was not a medical related visit, this was as stated before a yearly exam. Since "Genie" had incorrectly billed our medical insurance and not our vision insurance she said "well this can't be reversed because we've received reimbursement already".

Her mistake is NOT the patient's responsibility and telling a patient "you needed to tell them this is just a routine visit" so she can avoid making mistakes like this in the future is absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable.

We are still dealing with this issue at the present date. I would advise staying away from a practice that can't bill properly, as this is essential for a basic medical practice.

This is a great office. The staff is friendly, the equipment is cutting edge, and the atmosphere is inviting. Dr. Speak is professional and great at fitting hybrid contact lenses. I have been to many optometry offices and this is by far my favorite. Speak Eyecare will have my business for as long as I stay in OP.
