Cryotherapy
Yes. Retinal tears, if found in time, can be treated with either freezing, cryotherapy, or laser treatment. These often seal off the retinal breaks and prevent retinal detachment.

Dr. Craig Cole has recently joined our staff at Sakowitz Eye Center. He received his Doctor of Medicine Degree from Indiana University in 2002. Dr. Cole then completed his ophthalmology surgical residency at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, Indiana. He served as Chief of Ophthalmology at Community Hospitals in Indianapolis and was a volunteer Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Indiana University, where he taught surgery to future ophthalmologists.

Laser Eye Surgery
Sakowitz Eye Center has fellowship trained subspecialists to provide general and consultative ophthalmic care. We provide the most advanced diagnostic and treatment options, including Intralase LASIK, Multifocal Implants, Ocular Coherence Tomography, SLT and Argon Lasers.
Cataracts
When a cataract is sufficiently dense, it blocks the light getting to the retina and the vision decreases gradually over time.
Cataract Surgery
We use the most advanced form of cataract surgery called phacoemulsification. This technique uses a small incision with no stitch required.

Diabetes Care
Dr. Cole has been performing cataract surgeries since 2006. He is experienced with multiple lens implantation techniques, including standard lens, as well as advanced technology toric and multifocal lens implants. In addition to cataract surgery, Dr. Cole is also experienced in glaucoma treatment, diabetes care, dry eye disease, macular degeneration, and other ophthalmologic eyecare.
Diabetic Retinopathy
Diabetic retinopathy is a disorder of the retina in patients with diabetes mellitus. In diabetic retinopathy, there can be abnormalities in blood flow to the retina. Small retinal hemorrhages can occur, as well.
