Procedure: Arthroscopy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to examine and possibly repair some knee injuries. A tiny video camera is used during the procedure to pinpoint conditions, such as diseased or injured tissue and shows the surgeon where to trim damaged tissue or removed bone fragments. The surgeon will make two small incisions, one for inserting the arthroscope (camera) to view inside the knee and the other for inserting surgical equipment to make repairs. Arthroscopy
Arthroscopy is an outpatient procedure, which means the patient goes home the same day. Two to three weeks post-surgery, the patient returns to Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush for a check-up with the surgeon.

Knee Replacement

Knee Arthroscopy
Arthroscopy is an outpatient procedure, which means the patient goes home the same day. Physical therapy is often prescribed to help strengthen the muscles around the joint during the recovery process. As much as six months of physical therapy may be required after knee arthroscopy.
Reconstructive Surgery
Procedure: In order to avoid collateral damage, including meniscus tears and degenerative joint disease in the future, reconstructive surgery should typically be performed. This also provides stability and function in the knee. The price of the procedure reflects MOR knee surgeons using an autograftÂ (the patient's own tissue usually from the knee cap tendon or the hamstring) for the repair. Should MOR knee surgeons require the use of an allograftÂ (from a cadaver) ligament, additional fees will apply. These will be disclosed to you upon scheduling the procedure.

Physical Therapy
The session will be approximately 15 to 30 minutes and may include exercises, postural advice, body mechanics training, recommended alteration of activities, the recommendation for formal physical therapy (if needed), or a direct referral to a Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush physician (if needed).
