The North Little Rock Police Department serves more than 60,000 residents of the city of North Little Rock and employs over 190 sworn officers who are assisted by a team of 35 support personnel. Its patrol division is responsible for handling daily calls for service within the city and has motorcycle and K-9 units. Its investigation division is composed of detective, special investigations and narcotics units. The department s special investigations unit performs several tasks, including conducting surveillance, dignitary protection, gang intelligence and statistical analysis of crime. Its narcotics unit is responsible for the investigation of sale and manufacture of illegal drugs. The North Little Rock Police Department s professional development unit is responsible for various functions, including recruitment, selection, training and evaluation of new recruit police officers, and curricula development and implementation for in-service personnel training. It is located in North Little Rock, Ark.
