Mason's Pecan Shelling was started during the pecan season in 1967 by Bill & Karen Mason was strictly seasonal based on the size of the years pecan crop. Being a “seasonal” business meant closing down over the summer until the next season began around the time of the first fall/winter freeze. For several years all we did (or had time to do) during “season” was crack and shell our customers pecans. In 1984 the current facility was built. Something this big sometimes takes on a mind of it’s own and still does. One of the things the business had a mind to do was stay open during the summer. That was when Mason’s Pecans & Peanuts was born.
