Primary Care
I had pain in my left hip for about 2 years. Based on the description of my symptoms, my Primary Care Physician sent me to an Orthopaedic Specialist. He treated me for bursitis, gave me a cortisone injection in my hip bursa and sent me to Physical Therapy. None of that treatment worked and the pain persisted.

Many thanks to Dr. Boyd Haynes and his very efficient staff. I needed a hip replacement and had pre-op testing before hand. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
I would like to share my experience with a surgery performed by Dr. Haynes. I had been “putting off” Carpal Tunnel surgery that I should have had done years ago. Needless to say, I let it go long enough, that I have been told that I do have some nerve damage that is irreversible...that was my stupidity. I got to the point that I couldn’t sleep more than an hour or two at night without having my hand and arm wake me with pain shooting throughout from my armpit to the end of my fingers.

I just want to say that my lower back was in bad shape. and I was in a lot of pain,then I went to see Dr. McFarland and he took one look at my MRI and said he could fix that and I would not have anymore pain. After waking up from major lower back surgery, I had no more pain and was back to normal in six months. Dr. Martin Coleman is an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in disorders of the shoulder who joined OSC in 2002. Dr. Coleman received his undergraduate degree at Harvard College and went to medical school at the New York University School of Medicine. Upon completion of medical school, he interned and did his first year of residency in General Surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Coleman then completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the same facility. His first appointment was in orthopaedic surgery at United Hospital Center in Clarksburg, WV. I had a torn meniscus due to a bad fall that was repaired by Dr. Haynes with an arthroscopy on July 3, 2014. Pinched Nerve
Dr. Carlson performed a fusion on 3 vertebrae in in my neck. I suffered from a pinched nerve, which caused pain and numbness throughout my right arm. The pinched nerve was a result of arthritis. After the fusion, I immediately felt relief. I have not experienced any after effects of the surgery. While his practice is focused on total and partial joint replacement and joint revision of hips and knees, he provides general orthopaedic care for patients as well. Hip Replacement
I had a total right hip replacement on 29 July by Dr. Burrow. He visited me several times in the hospital, and with the follow-up visits, I have gained complete confidence in him. After having hip pain and being limited these last 5+ years, I recently walked down 200 steps and back up to visit a waterfall in West Virginia!
Knee Replacement
A year ago, I came to Dr. Haynes about the pain in my knee. I was very confident in him giving me the best advice, since he helped years earlier with my left knee with injections. I was ready for surgery at that time. Dr. Haynes suggested we try medicine first to help with the arthritis. I tried 2 different medicines with a little relief. I came back a couple of months later,but didn’t have complete relief. Dr. Haynes suggested a cortisone shot. I felt great for about a month and I was back again in 3 months for another shot. The last time I got a shot he asked me about surgery, but could give me another shot. I got the shot, but it only lasted a few weeks. I then came back to just talk about surgery. I am a school teacher and didn’t want to miss to much time. I asked if I would get a partial knee replacement or full knee replacement. Dr. Haynes asked about my pain and looking at the x-ray decided I only needed a partial knee replacement.

Physical Therapy
Rather than receiving another injection, I elected to visit Dr. Andrus for pain management. She immediately identified the specific area in my lumbar spine causing the pain in my pelvic and hip areas. She recommended physical therapy, which included lumbar traction and various exercises for my ailing areas. What a difference this has made. My pain levels on the pain scale dropped from a constant 10 to a 2-3. What a difference.
Frozen Shoulder
