Love this Vet. He generally cares about the animals and is not out to get your money like many other vets out there.

I recently brought my new puppy to this clinic after previously bringing my deceased pet to another local clinic. My husband decided he wanted a change with veterinary services with our new puppy. This was a very bad choice. I was very disappointed in the care provided and the limited interaction and explanation given by Dr. Shankin. My dog became sick from his two shots given at his first visit and when we called to discuss this, we were told to bring him in. He had his temperature done and nothing else and was given a prescription based on his symptoms. The charge was astronomical for less than 5 minutes of his time. We never asked for a visit on a weekend but were charged not just a regular office visit but also charged an emergency fee. I will NOT be bringing my puppy back to this clinic and will NOT be recommending this clinic to anyone I know. NOT friendly. NOT comprehensive. NOT HAPPY!!!

We will never go anywhere else. Dr. Shankin has made himself available to us at all times of day and has always been understanding and helpful. He cares about our pets (a dog and cat) and has always helped us make good decisions regarding their care. He explains all procedures and takes care to make sure you aren't paying for needless things. He is the best.

My dog was very sick and I couldn't get her vet at the time to see her for weeks! It was just before 8am and I showed up at Newburyport Veterinary Clinic and the doctor came out in his PJ's and slippers (he lives close by) and helped my poor dog. I would never dream of going elsewhere.
