        The Winfield Firm sues creditors for harassment and files for Chapter 7 and 13 Bankruptcy. Under a new law, bankruptcy exemptions in New York have dramatically increased. In New York City, debtors can generally keep their home in Chapter 7 Bankruptcy if they have 150,000 in equity. Most types of debts are dischargeable and most debtors keep all or most property. Creditor phone calls and letters can often be ended. Garnishments and bank account freezes can often be lifted. Outrageous creditor actions can give rise to a lawsuit such as using obscenity or profanity or threatening violence while collecting a debt. Collecting against and suing the wrong person can also give rise to a lawsuit.
