I find it just about impossible to give them 1 star. Maybe an outline of one...
The absolute worse electric company you can imagine. Power goes out if there is even a slight breeze outside. Constantly changing rates & will double charge you because they "out source" from another electric company, so they say. So you pay them & the other electric company. That's ridiculous. And what can we do about it? Nothing. There's no other choice. Live in town if you can & stick with swepco.

It’s a co-op providing service, with out it I would have no Electricity. Very thankful!

Like Melvin S, I have had kiamichie rural and pso all of my life. I never have had the need for a generator growing up in eastern Oklahoma. I have been on upshire if several months and have experienced so many outages for so much longer than should be enough so that I feel as though a generator may be necessary. If your are thinking of buying a house in their service area make sure u have a good generator because u will need it. Sub par beyond anything I could have imagined.

The electric has been out for a couple of hours. I have had aep , kiamichi rural electric, seek rural electric, pso, Duncan light and power, and oge in Oklahoma. All of these services were at the lowest 100% better than upshur co. I have lived in lakeport for a while and wish I could get some other power company. This is the second time today. It is too hot to sleep right now at 12:51 and I have to travel 300 miles in the morning. Not a bit happy!!

We do prepaid and even with decrease in electric usage. I watch everything we don't use a dryer, dishwasher our central air runs less. Short showers all the lights kept off we are still climbing at rate per day and now up to 8.31 per day. Ridiculous and theives!!!

The only reason why I use this company is because I have no other option.

We do out of electric than with and rates are extremely high and customer service is rude and they will cut you off in a heartbeat no matter what your condition

Power goes out monthly at some point no matter the weather. If there's a bad storm you can bank on not having power for awhile. Slow to respond even slower to react Upshur Rural is disappointing at best. Oh and someone said they had low rates??!! Yeah right!

Here we are week 11 trying to get electric. They rate -5. This is so wrong but what can you do this is the only electric company that services this area. Come on SWEPCO step up and push Upshur out.

Ever since I've had upsher rural, I've had nothing but trouble with them. anytime the power goes out, anyone in the neighborhood who has swepco, has power. Anyone who has upsher rural has none for days. It's been that way for as long as I had them. I will admit they have the lowest rates, but that to me isn't worth not having power for days. Especially when it's colder than a witches tatas in a bras bra..................Un sincerely a very unsatisfied customer.

Upshur Rural Electric should give out free generators to every customer.... If the winds blows more than 5 mph you will definitely lose power....
