Thomas A. Mason Co., Inc. is a family owned firm since 1912. Our company is sought after for our service and dependability. We can handle any project, from a small retail space to a convention center, on schedule and on budget. We continue to build on our nine decades of knowledge with highly skilled trades-people. History In 1912, Thomas Macaione, a recent emigrant from Sicily, founded a painting company in Milwaukee based on his old-world painting skills and experience with fine finishes. Shortly after establishing the business in the United States, he changed the family name to Mason. Mason used a horse-drawn wagon to carry paint and equipment to his jobs. Founder, Thomas A. Mason Upon his death in the late 1950s Mason's son, Domenic, took over the business, heading the firm through the early 1980s. Representing the firm's third generation, Thomas A. Mason, named after his grandfather, and his younger brother Steven J. Macaione - who reverted back to the family name - learned the painting trade working in the family business while teenagers and then gravitated to office positions. At the time, the company was a father-son business with six employees and sales of about $250,000 a year. For years, the firm continued to operate out of the office built in the basement of the founder's downtown home. Our company did mostly high-end, single and multi-family residential painting for decades before gradually advancing to commercial painting, its primary area of business today. Thomas A. Mason Co., Inc. is now a $10 million firm located in a two-story, renovated brick building on Martin Luther King Drive at the outskirts of downtown Milwaukee. Expanding Beyond Milwaukee Our company has expanded the scope of its work beyond the Milwaukee area to Racine, Kenosha, and Madison. In 1997, Thomas Mason relocated his family to a mountain resort community of Colorado, where he runs a satellite office from his home. Our employees have provided painting and wood finishing services at the Zephyr Mountain lodge in Winter Park, Colorado which includes condominiums as well as a ski resort. We provide painting services to the residential home to large commercial jobs in Colorado. Our phenomenal work ethic makes us the best painting contractor in Colorado. Our firm has 60 union trades-people on staff, which allows the company to bid on even the largest jobs. With one telephone call, a client has access to the in-house, on-staff expertise of skilled trades-people, including members of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters of America and the International Brotherhood of Painters and Allied Trades.
