Very satisfied

My English Setter Patty just returned home after completing the Dog Wizard's "Easy Does It" program. The Dog Wizard staff clearly did a great job training her. She responds to commands with ease and will only get better. I'm very pleased to have chosen the Dog Wizard over other trainers...and would recommend them to anyone.

Prepare to be amazed!!

The name says it all. We hired The Dog Wizard to train Gizmo. (Our 1st dog, Que, was 11 years old and we didn't see a need to train him. BUT we wanted to get on the right foot with Gizmo.) After the first lesson, we could see a HUGE difference in Gizmo! Gretchen assigned weekly assignments to go over the commands with Gizmo. Sometimes Gretchen would even bring along her dog, Clyde, to assist in the training. My husband and I were very excited about Gizmo's transformation. Soooo.since Que was so much older than Gizmo, he would not play with him. We bought another Yorkie, Toby! Having Gizmo go through the program helped us train Toby because he caught onto the commands faster from watching Gizmo. The group lessons are also great. It provided the true 'distractions' for the dogs during training. However, Gretchen always worked in a little playtime so all the dogs could sniff each other!

Working with The Dog Wizard was an excellent experience. I have recommended them to several friends and neighbors. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

My Dogue de Bordeaux was out of control

I found Gretchen after I got my dog as a puppy. Ellie is the first big dog I have owned and I had no idea that she would have such a a mind of her own! The breed in general, is very low maintenance and laid back. Ellie, on the other hand, unfortunately picked up on some habits of my Jack Russell Terrier, primarily chasing squirrels and dragging me behind her. She drug me face down through the woods more than once and after that I deciced I need some help before I was pulled out in front of a dump truck and run over. I looked at several trainers on-line and talked to a couple and I was very impressed with Gretchen, even more so by the fact that she used to own a DDB and was aware of their behavior and temperament. A short time into training Ellie got overly excitted on a walk and wanted to play with a lab and I ended up with a broken hand as a result. Everything was uphill from that point on. Ellie is now capable of walking off-leash and following commands, although she doesn't like to, sometimes. I was in utter shock the first time I dropped the leash and she heeled beside me....even walking past a squirrel. I cannot imagine where I would be had I not contacted Gretchen. I was extremely impressed with how she treated Ellie. I used another trainer years ago with other dogs and the person did not compare to Gretchen. She is so gentle and kind to the dogs she trains, more so than I was, it seemed at times. I cannot thank her enough.

Stubborn Dane

Well, thank goodness my Great Dane, Nelly, found the Dog Wizard- I thought she was an angel but then again I rarely took her anywhere- she was so rude, it was kind of embarrassing but I didn't realize how bad I let her get- she was beginning to make me a hermit! I felt bad leaving her but stressed if I took her too- needless to say, I needed some help. Gretchen came in and gave her the boot camp she needed- I never realized how demanding she had become. We did a few lessons, out and about and in the car as well- I think it was easy on both of us as I learned to speak her language. I know Nelly is a much happier dog as she seems more relaxed in public and well rested when at home. Without reservation- best recommendation for our training- we couldn't be happier! Thanks! -Matt

The Best!

Somehow I knew The Dog Wizard would help us with our newly acquired stray who we had named Luna. She had turned up on our doorstep just a few months before, and according to the vet, she was around a year old. She has always been a sweet little girl, but it was as if she wasn't connecting with us. It became very clear that she needed our guidance to become the dog she was meant to be, so after trying (and succeeding a little) to train her ourselves, I searched for dog training in our area. Thankfully, I found The Dog Wizard. What impressed me most of all was that once you pay for whatever training package you choose, they are always there for you for the life of the dog. Other places I found ship you off after a few classes with a sometimes meaningless certificate (your dog often goes back to their old ways), and you're on your own......not with The Dog Wizard.

Within a few minutes of training from Alan, Luna stopped pulling on the leash, and was closely walking by his side. She has gone from strength to strength with her training, and we are teaching her other things now she has progressed past having the individual sessions with Alan. We can now take her to group sessions at local parks, as many times as we want. We haven't had the time to get to them recently, but what we have learnt from Alan had given us the tools to work with her ourselves while we wait to get to the group sessions. The relationship you have with them is ongoing.

Luna, having been used to wandering wherever she wanted when she was a stray, used to suddenly take off whenever she saw a deer, rabbit, or pretty much anything that took her fancy. Now, she walks off the leash wherever she is allowed, and listens to our instructions. Of course she is still interested in investigating that tempting sound or smell, but the difference is that now she knows she has to follow our commands. I started to make her sit whenever another animal went by or a car drove past us (mainly for her safety), so now she automatically sits whenever she sees something or hears a car. We are very proud parents! She has now totally bonded with us.......and our relationship with her is totally stress-free. She is a joy!

I could go on and on about The Dog Wizard, but will just say this...give them a call, talk to Lorraine (who is a sweetheart) and see what they can do for you....you will not be disappointed.

AMAZING

The dog wizard did wonders for my Great Dane. Gunner was A LOT to handle and it was either I got rid of him or did something about it....When I found out about The Dog Wizard, I called them.Jake came and gave us some insight and we loved it...He came back 2 weeks later to pick gunner up for his two week training session...Gunner came a Brand New Dog.....

I called Jake back once to help me out with some stuff and he came as soon as possible and helped me fix whatever I needed....They are guaranteed for the life of the dog after you train with them which is a big bonus for us.

So far so good... Iwould recommend them to EVERYONE and pretty much have.

Worth Every Penny!!!

We rescued a blind dog with many problems including behavior issues. The Dog Wizard has transformed our pooch into the BEST family companion we could have wished for. She is sweet to others and other dogs, she listens and responds to all her command words and walks with us numerous times a day off leash!!! This was worth every penny and more. Thanks to the entire staff!!!

Best Dog Training experience ever!

I worked with the fantastic trainers at "The Dog Wizard" with my dog Gryphon who is dog aggressive. What I found EXTREMELY helpful was not only the techniques and personal attention to our issue, but the "continuing education" classes available every Saturday morning that re-enforced the social skills that my dog needed. I found that invaluable and would recommend "The Dog Wizard" to anyone who wants a well-behaved companion.

Happy dog owner

I highly recommend The Dog Wizard. My Aussie was beyond control when I entrusted her with Dog Wizard for two weeks in April. I think they "switched dogs" because she was transformed into a loving, mostly obedient companion. She responds to my commands and seems to anticipate my instructions. Profchar

We presented the dog wizard with a dog scared of everything. This was a rescue dog who took over 8 hours to get out of the crate after she was shipped to us from Texas. We were about to send this precious 15 month old black lab back to Texas when we saw a black car riding down the street in many colors with THE DOG WIZARD written on it. I called the next day and we had Rhonda in training before the end of the week. In less than 10 days Rhonda knew all commands and has not been on a leash since. Rhonda is now 4 years old, The kindness, the professionalism, the genuine care and love for our dog that this team gave to Rhonda is still to us unbelievable. They are the BEST!!! J.Currie

Dog Wizard #1

I have had both of my dogs trained by them and they are the best. Reasonable, up front, take good care of the dogs, and they deliver!! We ended up with an unplanned rescue just after we had a baby and within a weekend they had that dog close to perfect. I wouldn't look any further...I can take my 3 kids and 2 dogs to a park off leash and not worry about a thing - they are 100% reliable and I would never have been able to give my dogs the quality of life they have now without the dog wizard training...can't say enough good things.

Thank you!!!

My Dog Arden

I am very lucky to be the proud owner (partner in crime) of a rescue dog by the name of Arden who we have now had for approx. 6 months. It was love at first sight. Arden is a pit bull mix: she has a pit bull head, and the body and coloring of a small Weimaraner. She is approx. 16 months old. I have not had a dog since I was a kid so needless to say this is a brand new adventure. I read a lot of books about raising a dog but nothing prepared me for these exciting times. Arden was house trained when we received her but that was the extent of her training. She loves people, especially kids, and she loves other dogs. She plays very hard. On one of the first walks we had together she literally dragged me down the street and ran from person to person and dog to dog just to say hello to everyone. I knew at that point that I would need help. A lot of help! I spoke to friends, neighbors, and family to find out who they recommended for training. The name The Dog Wizard was continually mentioned, so I gave them a call and set up an appointment to meet. Gretchen Hollifield of The Dog Wizard came to our house, met Arden, did an assessment and made recommendations and a program specific to Arden's needs. I realized within 5 minutes of Gretchen working with Arden that this is what we needed to do. We have had 3 or 4 one on one lessons and I am so impressed. It is like night and day. We have also participated in group lessons and I can now walk Arden down the street, through the park, and visit with neighbors with her by my side and she is a well behaved dog. Arden is not perfect but either am I! And we have more lessons in our future. I like and appreciate this organization so much that we also signed up for frisbee lessons for Arden. This gave us the opportunity to work with other staff from The Dog Wizard who are just as excellent as Gretchen. These people know dogs! With The Dog Wizard training I have learned how to keep my sofa loving dog OFF of the sofa. Arden has learned the following commands and executes them well: heel, sit, come, place, down, up, stay, and a few others that we use to play games. I highly recommend The Dog Wizard.Thank you so much, Arden & her partner in crime!

Five Stars!!

I got my dog as a 4 month old puppy, and she had been very shy around people and other dogs since the day I brought her home. As she got older (she is now 1 1/2 years old) her fearfullness got worse and her intolerance of strangers and new dogs grew. She began nipping at friends who would come into my home, and a couple of times lunged at strangers on walks. I contacted Gretchen with 'The Dog Wizard'; I had heard good things about her program, which included coming to my home to do a free evaluation of my dog. She went over the different training plans they offer, which include everything from basic obedience to aggression and behavior modification, gave me a very impressive demonstration on how to get her to walk nicely on a leash (she had my dog in a perfect heel after 5 minutes!), and answered all of my questions fully and honestly. I signed her up for the program that actually involved her living with Jake, one of her trainers, for 2 weeks. He worked around the clock with her, and was very committed to her success. She finished her time with The Dog Wizard, and I am SO proud to have her as my dog. She is off leash reliable, meaning I can walk her off leash, play ball at the park, or let her out to do her business on her own if its rainy. She also knows come, sit, down, and place, all with an "implied stay" meaning that she must hold those positions until I tell her otherwise. She now attends daycare on a regular basis, the nipping has stopped, and her confidence around strangers and new situations has grown. The Dog Wizard did an incredible job, and the results are more than I could have hoped for!!!

My miniature schnauzer puppy was so bad I almost took him back to the breeder. He was out of control. He was all over the furniture, running wildly in the house and pulling my older schnauzer by the harness all over the living room. Not to mention the number of items he chewed up. After 2 weeks with the Dog Wizard, Gus was a well behaved, obedient, and most of all, happy dog. I take him with me anywhere and never use a leash. He loves being able to get out and run and be around people. It is the best thing I could have done for Gus and for me. If you love your dog and want them to be part of your family, I highly recommend the Dog Wizard. They are wonderful individuals that truly love dogs.
