Special Transportation Service, operated by Charlotte Area Transit System, serves citizens with special needs. It provides door-to-door transit services within Charlotte limits, including the towns of Matthews and Pineville, for individuals with disabilities certified as eligible according to the Americans with Disabilities Act. The Special Transportation Service fleet is equipped with ramps and electric lifts to accommodate wheelchairs and scooters.
