Swedish massage uses firm but gentle pressure to promote relaxation, ease muscle tension, and to create other health benefits.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage is designed to relieve severe tension in the muscle and the connective tissue or fascia. This type of massage focuses on the muscles located below the surface of the top muscles. Deep tissue massage is often recommended for individuals who experience consistent pain, are involved in heavy physical activity (such as athletes), and patients who have sustained physical injury. It is not uncommon for receivers of deep tissue massage to have their pain replaced with a new muscle ache for a day or two. Deep tissue work varies greatly.
Sports Massage
Sports massage was originally developed to help athletes prepare their bodies for optimal performance, recover after a big event, or function well during training. Sports massage emphasizes prevention and healing of injuries to the muscles and tendons.
Prenatal Massage
Pregnancy can come with many unpleasant symptoms such as back aches, hip aches, sciatic pain, leg cramps, swelling, headaches, and stress. Pregnancy massage is a great way to help combat these symptoms. It focuses on enhancing the wellness of the expectant mother and baby.
Thai Massage
Thai massage is a type of massage in Thai style that involves stretching and deep massage. This form of bodywork is usually performed on the floor, and the client wears comfortable clothes that allow for movement. No oils are used in Thai massage.
Full Body Massage
Aromatherapy Massage
Aromatherapy massage uses essential oils derived from plants to achieve therapeutic benefits. In aromatherapy massage, essential oils are usually mixed with a carrier oil like sweet almond, apricot kernel, or grapeseed oil. A relaxing aromatherapy massage, for instance, might have lavender or bergamot, while a massage for sore muscles might include peppermint and eucalyptus. Before your first aromatherapy massage session, your massage therapist will conduct an initial consultation with you to learn about your desired outcome. They might ask about the current state of your work life, home life, physical health and mental state to learn about what you need.
Reflexology Massage
Reiki Massage
Shiatsu Massage
Shiatsu uses pressure through palms, thumbs, fingers, elbows, knees, and sometimes even feet, to stimulate the free flow of energy through the body. Yet, unlike acupressure, it is focused more on the pathways themselves and less on individual points.
Neuromuscular Therapy
Force has to be applied perpendicular to the skin surface if muscle is to be stimulated Neuromuscular Therapy is a comprehensive program of soft tissue manipulation techniques that balance the central nervous system (brain, spinal column and nerves) with the structure and form of the musculoskeletal system.
Neuromuscular therapy (NMT) is a form of soft tissue manual therapy. It is distinguished from other types of massage in that a quasi-static pressure is applied to the skin with the aim of stimulating specific areas of skeletal muscle. Often these areas of muscle are myofascial trigger points. NMT is a comprehensive program of soft tissue manipulation techniques that balance the central nervous system (brain, spinal column and nerves) with the structure and form of the musculoskeletal system. NMT is based on neurological laws that explain how the central nervous system maintains homeostatic balance.
Myofascial Therapy
The myofascial release approach is a form of soft tissue therapy used to treat somatic dysfunction and resulting pain and restriction of motion. It is a treatment described by Andrew Taylor Still, founder of osteopathy/osteopathic medicine, and his early students, which uses continual palpatory feedback to achieve release of myofascial tissues. This is proposed to be accomplished by relaxing contracted muscles, increasing circulation and lymphatic drainage, and stimulating the stretch reflex of muscles and overlying fascia.
Therapeutic Exercise
"I went swimming Tuesday and Wednesday I woke up pretty sore (back and shoulders). I called, they made time for me and I got the "Deep Tissue Massage" and was even taught some neat therapeutic exercises to do at home. I recommend this place for several reasons: like the personable and highly skilled staff. Gotta go!... time for another swim, LOL."
Acupressure
Acupressure operates much like acupuncture, but uses direct pressure instead of needles to calm, disperse or tonify energy through energy portals called pressure points.
Acupuncture
Current modalities such as chiropractic, massage, acupuncture, or traditional physical therapies offer a “hands on” manipulative approach to pain relief. As a result, these modalities require you to return on a normal basis, yielding dependency upon others to relieve your pain. Postural Alignment Therapy on the other hand, provides you the individual, with the tools necessary to take back and manage your healthcare on your own.
