        Coming from a low-income single-family home, I did not have college money, so I enlisted into the United States Navy Submarine Service. There, I served with honor and received a letter of citation for outstanding service. I was honorably discharged in 1991. From there I worked several different jobs from hourly to sales. In 2009, I took the “plunge” as a full-time college student at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX. While there, I studied criminal Justice. But due to the high tuition cost, I transferred to the University of Houston-Downtown where it was more affordable. It was there where I learned to hone my writing skills.
