Overall
if there were negative stars I would have chosen that option!!

I pay for my insurance thru the company I work for, Verizon and it is not cheap! The nursing staff here is the worst I have ever had!! I told them I was gluten intolerant and they said they didn't "offer gluten free menus". What hospital doesn't have dietary needs menu's? ?? So they sent up tomato soup and I asked if it was gluten free because most tomato soups use flour as a thickener, she said she called down to the cafeteria and they assured her it was gluten free, so I ate it. This was coming straight out of surgery cutting open my stomach. I ended up throwing up all afternoon, a total of 5 times!!!! RIGHT AFTER SURGERY!!!!! I had only taken a few bites of it and was still hungry so I asked if she would take it back and get me something else to eat that was gluten free. another nurse brought back The EXACTLY same tray of food and said " I really don't know what gluten is, so just pick out the stuff you think you can have". OMG I was so livid, if you have special dietary needs, and specify them YOU NEED to be able to trust that you are being taken care of!!!! Plus every time I asked for water or ANYTHING it took over an hour!!! The nurses are so snotty and rude it is unbelievable! I had asked for pepto because I was still nautious from them trying to poison me, I asked for it twice and finally after an hour my husband ran to the store to get me some! I pray no one ever has to go thru the torture these inconsiderate monsters put you thru!

Overall
service is horrible

While in the delivery room MOST of the nurses were rude and snotty! They took forever to come to our room when called! One of the nurses was TEXTING while she was supposed to be assisting while i got the epidural!

Overall
I would NEVER refer ANYONE to ...

I would NEVER refer ANYONE to have a baby here. I don't know what kinda' care they have in other areas of this hospital, but, the OB was TERRIBLE!! :( I had my son October 1st 2008 and they weren't friendly at all. Altho I did have a couple good nurses the others made that place a TERRIBLE experience for a first time mom. They practically MADE me take that iv pitocin, ( I said I didn't want) and than after hours later they said I needed my epideral which I also said I didn't want. WHAT THE HECK??? The anistisiologist (I'm sure I didn't spell this right. haha) was MEAN. Anyway needless to say the pitocin and epidural made me have a LONG MISERABLE labor.. I was in labor a total of 23 hours. 6 hours before delivery I got mad and told them I wanted EVERYTHING turned off NOW (pitocin and epidural) and EVERYTHING went quite well after that....My blood pressure went back up (it'd been WAY low) and the baby's heart-beat went back up as well (which was VERY LOW as well)!! After everything was turned off the rest of my labor went well. Just let a mother or ANYONE as far as that goes have their RIGHTS like u all say they're supose to have. And this wouldn't be such a bad place to go!! :)

concerned

I do agree that health costs is expensive, but like a lot of things in this world,it costs alot just to exist. Our needs, food, clothing, and shelter are so costly they are destroying this world.Especially here in the good ole' USA.

My sister is in the CVICU,and I hope she is getting the best care possible,no matter what.Any how the best if not a lawsuit can remedy the problem!

Overall
Great care, great people

I was at Hillcrest for 11 days after a heart attack and open-heart surgery. I can't say enough wonderful things about them. I was immediately taken to the heart cath lab, and then went to the heart ICU. I got incredible care, and the people were so kind and knowledgeable. After a few days in the ICU, I was sent to a bed on the regular floor. Even though they were extremely busy, the nurses and the nurse aides were kind, caring, and worked very hard to make sure I had what I needed. I think it's a shame that people usually only post the negative things. More people should let others know when they have a good experience, too. I'm doing fine now, and I thank the people at Hillcrest for that.

response to the 'Nurse'

Wow,, Iam discusted at the calous attitude of a NURSE! YOU are NOT a NURSE I'D WANT CARING FOR MY LOVED ONES OR MYSELF! There ARE People who work HARD in this country, and can NOT AFFORD Good Health Insurance! (Guess your too selfish that you havent been listening to any WORLD NEWS?) People have a RIGHT to Medical CARE. (Its a LIFE, Remember?!) But I doubt You care anything about ANY Human Life,, -Especially Anyone who doesnt have Health Insurance, that is..) I believe alot of the Medical "LIFE THREATENING" -Mistakes-,, that sometimes almost, or DO Cost a LIFE,, are largely contributed by an UNCARING NURSE, like Yourself!! (You should consider YOURSELF a DISGRACE,, to Your Fellow 'GOOD' NURSE CO-WORKERS!!) Do US ALL a FAVOR,, and Probably SAVE SOME 'LIVES',, --CHANGE YOUR CAREER!-- Get OUT of the line of work thats considered a "CAREGIVER"!

response on hillcrest review

coming from a nurse, you get what you pay for. nothing is for free. go to the university hospitals that take the uninsured. soon with the nurse shortage we will have socialized medicine and that is not working too well either. go to the state facility so we all can pay for your bill. it is people like you that are just sucking the life out of the system.

Overall
good services but billing vultures

This hospital and its staff gave me good care, but I feel I was rushed out of outpatient surgery too quickly. I was let out before I even urinated, and found I could not. This led to an emergency that evening to go back and have that treated. This is like any in our US medical industrial complex. I had no insurance and am one of the working poor. I was made to sign that I would pay $50 mo on a $5000 bill. I signed because I was afraid I would be denied surgery. I paid $11 every month and still they sic'd a lawyer on me. Keep all your documentation of when you paid.etc. How can you all squeeze blood out of a stone? I still pay $11 a month and we will see what happens. I advise all that read this to take up the fight for a more equitable system of health care in this country. We have higher costs and a lower mortality rate than Europeans in this arena. Be part of that change. This should not happen to people in this country. Hillcrest is a decent for profit hospital but I urge everyone, especially Oklahomans to become active in the fight to see that access to care is fair to all.
