Founded in 1896, the Children's Home Society of West Virginia is a private, nonprofit organization that offers a range of child welfare, adoption, foster care, emergency shelter, mediation and advocacy services. It also provides various behavioral health, tutoring, truancy diversion, and recruitment and training programs. Additionally, the Children's Home Society of West Virginia administers a youth program that includes services for children and youths who suffer from behavioral problems. It is comprised of employees, foster and adoptive families, volunteers, board and advisory council members, donors, benefactors and supporters. The organization is a member agency of the West Virginia Alliance for Children and Child Welfare League of America. The Children's Home Society of West Virginia is approved by the Council on Accreditation of Services for Families and Children.
