Behavioral Counseling

Protect your pet and family from flea and tick infestations, dermatitis secondary to allergies, and serious, sometimes fatal, infectious diseases that can be transmitted by them. Fleas and ticks are easy to prevent, and we can help. Each of our products are medically approved, safe, and guaranteed to help protect your family.
Pain Management
The veterinarian uses an individual sterile surgical pack of instruments for each patient. During anesthesia, a trained Licensed Veterinary Technician closely monitors your pet with a pulse oximetry machine that measures heart rate and the percent of oxygen in the bloodstream. NVC uses technologically advanced anesthetics (such as Telezol, Propofol, and sevoflurane) as well as pain management recommendations that allow for safer induction and recovery of your pet.

Our dog grooming services include a bath (with shampoo tailored to your pet’s needs), conditioner, trimming or clipping, fluff dry, brush and de-shedding, nail trim, and ear cleaning. Anal gland expression will be done upon request.

Heart Disease Treatment
With ultrasound, we can examine and measure internal organs or tumors, diagnose pregnancy, and take biopsies of major internal organs by using ultrasound as a guide. Thoracic ultrasounds give the doctor important information on the functioning of the heart. This is especially important for pets with suspected congenital heart problems or heart failure. Often, the major organs in the abdomen are given an ultrasound to obtain additional information that an x-ray alone can't provide. This procedure gives the doctor an active view of the organs. We commonly view the bladder, kidneys, spleen, liver, adrenal glands, stomach, and pancreas on an abdominal ultrasound.
Periodontal Disease Treatment
Pets with periodontal disease or abscessed teeth have oral pain just as people do, although by nature they may not show pain as people do. What’s more, current research shows that pets with a dental infection have higher rates of kidney, liver, heart, and lung disease. This statistic is extremely important to the well-being of your pet. Why? Because bacteria from your pet’s mouth can travel throughout the body, lodging in these organs causing serious symptoms and diseases.

X-Ray
If an examination or clinical history of your pet suggests a heart disorder, the first diagnostic step usually includes chest x-rays and an electrocardiogram, which may be referred to as an ECG or EKG. An ECG can be done quickly and easily during your visit to provide the doctor with information to best help your pet. In some cases, these tests will provide enough information to arrive at a diagnosis. In other cases, a cardiac ultrasound may be necessary to identify the disorders within the heart chambers themselves.
Dental Radiology
X-rays play a key role in diagnosing illnesses and injuries. With them, we can see what lies hidden below the surface of the skin. Nassau Veterinary Clinic is equipped with both a conventional x-ray machine and a special dental x-ray unit for oral radiography.
Microchipping
Microchipping offers a safe and easy way to ensure your pet can be identified and returned to you, even if he or she is without a collar and ID tag. Each microchip has a unique identification number, which can be scanned by an animal control officer, veterinarian, or shelter if a pet is lost or its ownership is in question. If the microchip is properly registered, it will bring up the information of the rightful owner.

General Pet Care

Boarding
If we need to keep your pet overnight or for several days, such as after an advanced surgical procedure or for monitoring, you can rest assured that we will provide the love, attention, and medical care they need to experience the best possible stay. We also offer boarding services for healthy pets, if you are going out of town and need someone to care for your pet.
Grooming
Our cat grooming services include a brush, and nail trim, or you can ask for the fashionable “lion cut.” For our long-haired feline friends, the lion cut gives your cat relief from painful, unsightly mats and the summer heat!
