Mod-U-Dock does not promise nor generally provide installation and removal services. We are pleased to be able to provide free shipping and delivery where applicable, but this does not include installation or removal, and we make no pretense about this. As a manufacturer, we manufacture dock systems which we sell through our dealer network or Factory Direct where dealers are not available. Individual dealers may provide additional services. Mod-U-Dock is made to be easy to install and remove. There are some misconceptions about docks that it is good to address. First, “stationary” does NOT mean permanent. Mod-U-Dock does not use auger pilings to hold stationary docks in place; support posts fit in footpads with rest on the bottom. Second, our floating docks are NOT easier to install or remove – both varieties are pretty straight forward. However, floating docks may use removable auger pilings. Mod-U-Dock takes a freeze just fine. It can also hold all the snow you want to pile on it. (Mod-U-Dock is engineered and certified to support a 2000 lb uniform load supported on the corners alone.) However, whether or not you remove is ultimately a function of how your ice breaks up, and if there is movement of ice upon breakup. Ice will melt first by the shore because it is shallower there. If you have a large, open lake, wind can push the ice back against the shore. That can cause damage. If you are on a small pond or lake or in a protected cove (somewhere where the ice will not move out or get pushed back against your dock) you may be okay. We are always happy to discuss with customers their individual circumstances, but we cannot make decisions about individual circumstances nor do we provide removal services. Responsibility for removal where necessary does rest with the customer. Customer service and reputation is a #1 priority. We will absolutely bend over backward to offer assistance as well as to provide individual custom application solutions. We are truly saddened if a customer won’t give us a chance to deal with them directly. However, we make no pretense of supplying installation or removal services, unless otherwise stated.
