Overall

My family and I drove to SC from NC last weekend for a quick beach trip. On the way there somebody told us our brake lights were out. The following day we stopped at your Sears Auto Shop, Myrtle Beach. A person there told us to check out our car ( a Hyundai Elantra) would be $45 - We received a call back a short while later saying that the brake lights were out due to a switch that was under a recall. Given that we didn't want to ride around without brake lights, we agreed to get the issue fixed, and paid total of $118. The lights then worked. We were given the recalled part back and full documentation, in the hopes that Hyundai would reimburse us when we arrived home in NC. Hyundai, after calling, said they would reimburse us no problem if we took our Elantra to a local Hyundai dealership for an inspection of the repair/replacement part. The local dealership upon inspection said that not only had Sears put in a switch that was for a Sonata (not an Elantra like our car is), that they had put in a RECALLED SONATA part into our Elantra!! The dealership replaced the wrong part that Sears had put in. But now we are OUT $118.



My husband reached out to the Manager of the Sears Auto at Myrtle Beach, explaining the above and basically got told " Sorry, you're SOL"



My husband then reached out to Corporate and got the tel # to the District Manager and placed a call to him - his response was the same! "it worked when you drove away"



The fact is that if they had put in the correct part I would have reimbursement from Hyundai for the repair! Now I am out $118 and change for something that Sears screwed up on! I find it incredible that Sears will not reimburse these monies for something that they did incorrectly! and how does an Auto Shop get a flag on my elantra Brake light switch - and THEN go put in ANOTHER RECALLED PART?? for a different Model of Hyundai.



I have documentation on all of this, and all parts that were put in and removed, names and tel # and I want my money back!
