Early in his career, Peter held the position of Senior Staff Attorney (1990 until 1993) at the Charleston County Public Defender’s Office in order to gain valuable trial experience. He personally handled in excess of twelve (12) murders and five hundred (500+) felonies during that time. By the end of his tenure as the Senior Staff Attorney, Brown had tried numerous major felonies ranging from Murder, Trafficking Cocaine, Armed Robbery, Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor, Failure to Stop for Blue Light, to the relatively basic “Throw Down” Drug cases.
Misdemeanors
A misdemeanor for the purposes of an expungement in South Carolina is a crime carrying a penalty of not more than thirty (30) days imprisonment or fine of one thousand ($1,000) dollars, or both. Once you have gone three (3) years conviction free after the conviction date you should be eligible for an expungement (SC Code Section 22-5-910). This section may only be used once for an individual’s record, and it must be the first time they are convicted of the offense.

Attorney Don Sorenson had spent his entire legal career spanning twenty-five plus years as a career prosecutor. During that time Attorney Don Sorenson tried over 120 violent crime trials including approximately 50 murder trials. He was frequently called upon to consult with local law enforcement agencies regarding pending criminal investigations. He was also called upon to conduct training classes for law enforcement and was a faculty member at the Prosecution Commission’s Annual Boot Camp for new prosecutors.
