Urology & Oncology Specialists, P.C. was incorporated in April, 2009 as a result of two established medical groups coming together to better serve their patients and community. Mobile Urology Group, PA was founded in 1965 and its original members were Drs. William Cooner, Bill Mosley, Charles Rutherford, & Jeff Beard. Radiation Therapy Oncology, PC was founded in 1985 and its original members were Drs. Ken Ellingwood & Greg Cotter. Mobile Urology was originally located at 1720 Center Street next to the Mobile Infirmary where most of the medical community was in the 1980's. The primary office was relocated to the campus of Springhill Memorial Hospital in 1991. Our physicians have not only been leaders in the urological community but also the overall medical community of our city, state, and country. Dr. Cooner set an example for us all. It was primarily through his efforts that Mobile was one of the first cities to acquire ESWL treatment for kidney stones and it was through his dedication and research that prostate ultrasound and PSA became so important in the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer. Radiation Therapy Oncology (RTO) has long been a leader in the Mobile community. RTO physicians directed the radiation cancer treatment at the USA Medical Center from 1985 until 2005. The heritage of our two groups is great and our present members serve in leadership roles locally, state wide, and on a national level. All of this work ultimately makes us better physicians to take care of you. Our pledge to you is that our future will be just as distinguished as our past and that we will do everything possible to ensure the best medical care for our patients. Sometimes everything possible means not only keeping up with the most recent medical treatments but also fighting political battles on your behalf to ensure nothing disrupts the patient physician relationship.
