When you get services from an in-network hospital or ambulatory surgical center, certain providers there may be out-of-network. In these cases, the most those providers may bill you is your plan’s in-network cost-sharing amount. This applies to emergency medicine, anesthesia, pathology, radiology, laboratory, neonatology, assistant surgeon, hospitalist, or intensivist services. These providers can’t balance bill you and may not ask you to give up your protections not to be balance billed.

Mako Robotic-Arm Assisted Technology provides you with a personalized surgical plan based on your unique anatomy. First, a CT scan of the diseased hip or knee joint is taken. Chemotherapy
Springhill's Cancer Center is conveniently located on the first floor of the hospital with a dedicated entrance off of Dauphin Street. The Cancer Center includes outpatient chemotherapy services, where patients may access the care they require in a calm, caring outpatient setting.

Studies have shown that specialized wound care treatment, which may include hyperbaric medicine, may accelerate wound healing, reduce amputation rates, and help patients avoid hospitalization.
Joint Replacement
Springhill is the first hospital in the Mobile area to offer Stryker’s Mako Robotic-Arm Assisted Partial Knee and Total Hip replacement procedures. This latest advancement in joint replacement surgery is transforming how joint replacement procedures are performed. Robotic-arm assisted surgery is a new approach to joint replacement that offers the potential for a higher level of patient-specific implant alignment and positioning. The technology allows surgeons to create a patient-specific 3D plan and perform joint replacement surgery using a surgeon-controlled robotic arm that helps the surgeon execute the procedure with a high degree of accuracy. “Mako is changing the way joint replacement surgeries are performed,” said Mr. Jeff St. Clair, Springhill Medical Center President and CEO. “Using a virtual 3D model, the Mako System allows surgeons to personalize each patient’s surgical plan pre-operatively, so there is a clear plan for how the surgeon will position the implant before entering the operating room. During surgery, the surgeon can validate that plan and make any necessary adjustments, while the robotic arm then allows the surgeon to execute that plan with a high level of accuracy and predictability. The combination of these three features of the system has the potential to lead to better outcomes and higher patient satisfaction.”
Orthopedic Surgery
Our JAM (Joints and More) class is held every Wednesday in the front lobby of the hospital at 3:15 p.m. It is an educational class for those about to have orthopedic surgery. We review what to expect after surgery. The class runs for approximately 45 minutes. A hospital representative will contact each patient before their surgery to schedule their class.
