Dr. Ali Djalilian is an internationally renowned expert in ophthalmology, ocular surface, and cornea. He is a professor of ophthalmology at the University of Illinois at Chicago where he trains fellows and residents in ophthalmology. Additionally, he is an expert in the effects of migraine and central hypersensitivity on the eye and ocular surface. He has published more than 150 papers and book chapters and is the editor-in-chief of the most respected journal related to the cornea and ocular surface diseases (The Ocular Surface). He has published the definitive book on ocular surface diseases, Ocular Surface Disease: A Case Based Approach. He has conducted international clinical trials with sites in multiple countries for treatment of ophthalmologic diseases. He has been an invited lecturer at many international conferences and universities.

Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is a form of psychotherapy that has been found to be effective in treating various brain sensitivity disorders. CBT exercises typically involves identifying triggers and learning coping strategies to manage them, such as relaxation techniques, stress management, and cognitive restructuring. It may also involve learning to identify and challenge negative thought patterns that can exacerbate migraine symptoms. We use basic CBT exercises in all of our treatment protocols.

There are certain situations when getting an imaging study is appropriate to make sure certain serious conditions are ruled out. In these cases, we most commonly order magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) studies, as they best capture the structures in your brain. Typically, your health insurance will cover these, but even if you don’t have insurance, there are very affordable options we can recommend. Contact us for more details.
Chemotherapy
Medications can rarely cause permanent loss of hearing. These medication’s are generally used in chemotherapy of cancer, or in the treatment of severe infections. A class of intravenous antibiotics called aminoglycoside can in some people with a certain genetic mutation. Cause complete deafness. Medication taken by mouth are generally not toxic to the inner ear. Very rarely, some patients can have a reversible hearing loss associated with an aspirin compound.

General Surgery
Dr. Kureshi is a board-certified neurosurgeon who has practiced neurosurgery for more than thirty years in San Diego. Dr. Kureshi received his bachelor’s degree from the University of California, San Diego, and his medical degree from the University of Southern California (USC) School of Medicine. He completed a general surgery internship and a neurosurgery residency at Duke University Medical Center, where he served as chief neurosurgical resident. Dr. Kureshi is an innovator and is a leader in the treatment of concussion and post-concussive syndrome. He is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and the San Diego Medical Society. He has written articles for several peer-reviewed publications, including Neurosurgery, Skull Base Surgery and Conference Proceedings from the International Functional Electrical Stimulation Society. He has co-authored chapters for the books Techniques in Neurosurgery and Neurosurgical Operative Atlas.
Whiplash
Post-traumatic headaches develop after a traumatic injuries to the head or neck, such as a concussion or whiplash. Post-traumatic headaches can occur immediately following an injury, or they may develop days or weeks later. Post-traumatic headaches are clear examples of central sensitization syndromes, involving changes in the brain and nervous system that occur as a result of the injury. Dr. Djalilian is a professor of otolaryngology, neurosurgery, and biomedical engineering. He is the director of otology and neurotology at the University of California, Irvine and an international expert in chronic brain conditions such as dizziness, tinnitus, migraine, headache, and brain fog. He has published over 300 articles and book chapters and two books. He is currently writing a book on tinnitus. He is the president of the Migraine in Otolaryngology Society. The INR solution was developed in his clinic and has helped thousands of patients recover from chronic “brain sensitivity” disorders. He is the chief medical advisor for NeuroMed Clinic and personally trained all NeuroMed health care professionals in the INR protocol.
