General Info

JOSE I. ALMEIDA, MD, FACS, RPVI, RVT is a vascular surgeon in Miami, FL specializing in Endovascular Venous Surgery. Dr Almeida finished his general surgery residency training at the University of Miami- Jackson Memorial Hospital in 1996, and his vascular surgery fellowship at the University of Missouri- Columbia in 1998. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery in both Vascular and General Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and serves as Voluntary Professor of Surgery at the University of Miami School of Medicine. From 1998-2002 he was in practice at Miami’s Cardiac and Vascular Institute internationally recognized for its pioneering endovascular solutions to complex vascular problems; he then moved on to focus on patients with venous disease and helped pioneer endovenous therapy. In 2002, he founded the Miami Vein Center and helped lay the groundwork for office-based surgery is the primary venue for venous treatment. In 2003, he introduced the International Vein Congress (IVC) – an educational forum in venous disease management. He published a textbook “Atlas of Endovascular Venous Surgery” copyright 2012 by Elsevier, Inc. He is the author of numerous published abstracts, peer-reviewed journal articles, and textbook chapters on vascular surgery. He is also a frequent speaker at medical conventions around the globe. Dr. Almeida’s research experience of over 20 years- led him be the managing member of Vascular Device Partners- a team of physicians with the common goal of advancing endovascular device development. He joined a distinguished group of physicians receiving the 2014 Pioneers in Performance Award for North America—a biennial recognition sponsored by W. L. Gore & Associates (Gore) for physicians demonstrating an unrelenting dedication to advancing endovascular therapy.
