Florida Pain Institute – Merritt Island

Doctor Nguyen and his staff at Florida Pain Institute and Space Coast Surgery of Merritt Island are great and they have guided me through every step of the way with my procedure along with the representatives from Boston Scientific, Johan Toro, and Sarah Hsiso.

My spinal cord stimulator implant surgery took place on October 11, 2018, and since then I have had a few reprogramming adjustments.

My movement restrictions of no bending lifting and twisting were lifted and my surgical wounds have healed, which took about 8 weeks.

I have found that the spinal cord stimulator implant is doing a great job in the controlling of my chronic lower back pain.

The remote control device for the stimulator is very easy to operate and easy to learn.
I have several modes of operation to choose from in the remote control device, 9 to be exact!
I will most likely be adding more programs to the list as I start doing more physical activities in the future.
With the spinal cord stimulator, I have also reduced having to take pain medication with the hope of being completely free from the use of pain medications!

Having the spinal cord stimulator is the first time in 29 Years that I am pain-free and getting off of the pain medications!

I find that I have to charge the spinal cord stimulator about once a week since I use what they call the silent mode frequently and this mode drains the battery faster than the other modes.
The charging time takes 4 to 6 hours, and you wear a charging pack inside of a pouch on a belt or strap.
While charging you can do light activities and even go out.

I meet up from time to time with Johan to make changes in my programming and it does not take much time to make any of the changes that I need.

If you suffer from chronic lower back pain you should take a serious look at this device and discuss using this type of device with your doctor to see if it would be beneficial for you in relieving your chronic pain.
