McHenry Radiologists is a member of Centegra medical care providers. MRI image read with two insurance companies' information provided (the same information provided to every other Centegra-related provider). All of the other medical bills processed fine and insurance coordinated. McHenry Radiologists filed primary and received payment. Their statement indicated that they filed secondary, so I simply attached their statement to my primary insurance company's claim receipt information and waited for the secondary to come through.



Now, just slightly over sixty days from that statement, I receive a collections notice--for $11.28. Yes, that amount is correct. I contacted McHenry Radiologists and spoke with Penny who asked if I received a telephone call from them and she realized I had not. It should be noted that McHenry Radiologists use Gateway EDI (located in the United States and India) to process claims. If no information received back regarding a submitted claim, it is not investigated. No communication is made with the patient. The process is simply to send it, whatever the amount, to a collections agency



Be aware that this is the ONLY facility that is used by Centegra for McHenry and Woodstock image reading. If any x-rays, MRIs, etc., are performed at the Centegra facility, they are only sent here. A patient CANNOT request that they be sent somewhere else. To avoid the disrespectful, careless, attitude of McHenry Radiologists, it would be best to have the imaging performed at a different facility outside of Centegra's group.



To add insult to injury, Penny stated I should follow up with my insurance carrier in four weeks. Absolutely no indication on her part to actually investigate what happened to that claim submitted through the claims processor. No apology given. Nothing. She also stated that the collections agency does not report to credit bureaus, which is not true. I must now send written correspondence to that agency to address this problem.



I see that I am not the only patient that suffered their incompetence and uncaring attitude. Unfortunately, for me, their Woodstock hospital is the closest one in case of emergency but I will be considering moving out of Centegra for usual care so I do not have to deal with McHenry Radiologists and Imaging Associates. I am also considering having that MRI read by a different group. Do I dare trust the reading with the other issues that occurred?
