Overall

I began seeing Dr. Rezaian in February of 2013. I brought in all my ANA results and information about my allergies. The reason why I questioned him was because I thought my allergies were tied in with my ANA results. He didn't think so. Dr. Rezaian stated I would need to come in for an appointment to discuss these issues. He ran a bunch of bloodwork, and I tested positive for two autoimmune diseases. I knew something was wrong with me long before this.

Before my mother died, she had stated, "Jennifer, there is something very weird going on with your body". Suddenly, I was having bronchospasms and going to the emergency room because I felt like I could not breathe. I was breaking out into hives, had hair falling out all over my body, jaws cracking loudly, and had severe issues with allergies, that no medication could alleviate. With the second allergist I am seeing now, I am receiving the correct serum for my allergies, and many of my problems are gone now. The Plaquenil is helping, too.

After diagnosis, he put me on Plaquenil. Approximately a month later, I began having weird symptoms. For instance, I had memory problems, was grabbing things that were not there, had issues stopping on the brake in time while driving, repeating words back to people, and saying odd things. For example, I was trying to repeat to someone I bought chicken soup at the store, but I could not get my tongue to move to say the words. I was stuttering. More things were occurring. I was giving people too small of lids for big containers and do not remember doing this.

I have never had any tickets or accidents. So, problems driving concerned me. One lady gave me a weird look when I about drove into the dumpsters at my complex. Humiliating. The issues with driving gave me the most fright. My father agreed I should not be driving until properly medicated.

My behavior was stange, as well. I was even telling people, "The tv is sitting on top of the spoon", and that "I was looking for thirty dollar bills". There is no such thing! I was forgetting where I set things at , and falling asleep at work. I could not keep my eyes open. I was shaking Snapple bottles, forgetting the lids were not on completly, and then spilling tea on the coffee table. It was embarrassing. Come to find out, after my second MRI, I had white matter lesions, many of them. My neurologist ordered a spinal tap; he stated the lesions are probably brain damage. I had to have had sores in my brain in order for scar tissue to form. Everyone is waiting on the spinal tap. Dr. Rezaian said if it was negative he would put me on something to prevent any more lesions. I am not a liar. When I say I was having issues, I WAS having issues.

All of my other doctors told me it was just 'depression'. It was just 'anxiety'. Dr. Rezaian has never taken that attitude with me. He recognized the symptoms immediately because he is trained to know how these diseases affect the body, namely the brain. I owe this man my life now. He has helped me in numerous ways. I wish I could hug him and tell Dr. Rezaian, "Thank you!" Secretly, I wish I could slowly kiss him or his fingers and let him know he means the world to me ......"I love you....Dr. Michael M. Rezaian". Literally.
