Medical Weight Loss
Take your baby to the doctor for important check-ups. Newborns are at risk for weight loss and jaundice, which can both be concerning. Newborns should have their weight measured and jaundice level checked in the first 3-5 days after birth, and sometimes even more frequently than that. Newborns that did not get tested before being discharged from the hospital also require a heel stick for blood for "Newborn Screening" tests that screen for treatable diseases that can cause severe illness if not identified shortly after birth. Some newborns may also require additional testing based on the screening results taken at the hospital.

Qadara Beyah earned her undergraduate degree from Chamberlain College of Nursing in 2015. She worked as a postpartum nurse for five years at Northside Hospital Atlanta. Qadara enjoyed helping families through the first days of parenthood, and she soon realized that she wanted to continue helping the families throughout the different milestones. She returned to school and earneded her Master of Nursing in Pediatrics Primary Care at University of South Alabama in 2020.
Emergency Care
Wendy Davison, CPNP, is a certified pediatric nurse practitioner. Her educational background includes an undergraduate nursing degree from the State University of West Georgia and a master’s degree from Georgia State University. She has 10 years of pediatric emergency department experience at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta where she was a charge nurse and trauma specialist. She enjoys working with children of all ages but particularly newborns, infants and toddlers.
Immunizations
As of July 1, 2014, The Georgia Department of Public Health rule 511-2-2 requires children born on or after January 1,2002 who are attending seventh grade and children who are "new entrants" into eighth through twelfth grades must have one dose of Tdap vaccine AND one dose of meningococcal conjugate vaccination.

Labor and Delivery
Tory M. Banks, CFNP, is a certified family nurse practitioner. Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Drexel University and a Master's Degree in Nursing from South University. She spent close to 20 years as a labor and delivery nurse at Crawford Long Hospital. In that role she often has wondered what happened to those babies that she helped bring into the world. Are they healthy, are they safe? She is excited to have the opportunity to help our children at Cumberland Pediatrics continue their journey through life.

Eczema
It depends on the medication and if your child has been seen in the office in the last 3 months. If your child needs a refill on routine medications such as asthma or eczema, please call the nurse line number during office hours 770-955-8291 or let your pharmacist know and they will email it to your provider.
Lesions
A person is considered contagious from the onset of symptoms until lesions have crusted and separated and a fresh layer of skin has formed underneath the lesions.
