Overall

ATLANTA WOMEN – DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU WANT QUALITY SERVICE OR REASONABLE TREATMENT FROM THE OWNER. Here’s why. My appt was at 12:30pm on Sun Feb 16. When I arrived the salon was closed. I called the salon & left a message & tried sending an email. I waited over 30 minutes & left, but the owner returned my call before I made it home apologizing for the mix-up & told me she never received notice of my appt (even though I received confirmation email & reminder text). I gave her another chance & she promised to have a stylist to me within an hour. Around 2:45 my appt began with a stylist named Ken. I was hesitant since I saw Nikki’s work online but figured it would take a lot to mess up a simple sew-in. Three hours later, I looked in the mirror & was not pleased. Although I asked for an Aaliyah style to a full sew-in, I had an ugly & short bang with odd curls. I expressed my dissatisfaction with the owner but thinking I could just style my new hairdo differently, I paid & left. Once I got home & tried to fix the style, I noticed that you could see every single track in the front of my head. Ken layered my hair horribly & did not put enough hair in to cover the tracks (although I had an extra pack & a half leftover). I had to wear a hat the next few days to work & was able to catch the owner on the phone again on Wednesday the 19th. I said again why I was not satisfied & she apologized, asking me to come in after work so that she could fix it. I left work early to get to the salon before closing, but was aggravated to find only Ken at the salon when I arrived. He had an attitude & was rough when combing my hair trying to decide how to “fix” it. He said that he needed to add some more hair in, which made me ask why he did not put more in on Sun. Coming from work, I did not have the hair on me, & after looking around the shop for any extra hair, he told me he could not do anything & I could come back tomorrow. Not only did I wait an extra 2 hours on Sunday for my original appt only to have an unwearable style, but then when I leave work early to get it fixed you want me to come back again? No. So I had him uninstall the sew-in. At some point Sonia called him & he lied & told her I would come back tomorrow for a re-install. He tried to convince me that when you get a full sew-in, that’s what happens. False. Basically, he did not know what he was doing & tried to blame it on me not knowing what I wanted. When Sonia finally arrived, I asked for a refund because I did not have time to come back again, nor did I think that I would be happy with my hair after the current train wreck I had experienced. She informed me that salon policy was no refunds & that I could come back anytime in the next few weeks to let Ken fix it. Since she did not arrive until the sew-in was removed, I showed her pictures I had taken showing the ridiculous state of my hair. He added that if I no longer wanted a sew-in, he could style my natural hair. Do you really think if you can’t do a simple sew-in, I’m going to let you touch my hair? After a lot of debate, Ken offered to give me my money back. Sonia claimed that she needed a day to work it out as all money for the day had already been taken to the bank. I agreed to call back the next day. When I did, someone picked & hung up. Called back & the phone rang until the voicemail came on. I left a message asking her to call me back to discuss my refund. This went on for almost a week until she finally answered the phone on the 24th & told me she wouldn’t give me a refund although Ken agreed.

She has a couple signs hanging about the customer being right, but nothing about not giving refunds, nor did anyone mention this until I asked for one. I waited to post to get over the horrible experience, but I want to warn other women not to waste their money or time like I did. Although I believe in supporting black owned salons, I will never return.
