Dr. Bowen and staff are incredibly knowledgeable. Dr. Bowen is of high quality in his specialty. Very clean and nice facility. Dr. Bowen was very patient, kind, and thoroughly explained our case, which was much appreciate. Everything was exceptional except the communication. I feel like the communication was not good. Front person communication what was conversed on the phone to it receiving the doctor and vice versa. Whenever a person spends a substantial amount of care, trust, and money into someone. They need to be thoroughly communicated with. There were times we called for something and were not respectfully reciprocated, still. It's very frustrating when you install so much into your loved pets care. For this reason is why I rate it which I do. Organization, respect of time and concern, and communication need to be concisely worked on.

Dr. Bowens and Steven provided excellent care to our dog, Selke. She was in pain that no amount of pain killers could alleviate and our vet recommended VNCT to help with her ruptured disk. VNCT saw her within 30 minutes of my vet's call and had her in surgery within 24 hours. They kept us informed through every step of her treatment and showed her excellent care. The surgery was a success straightaway and Selke went from being unable to hold her head up from the immense pain to looking up and wagging her tail. All within 48 hours. Amazing! We are very grateful to Dr. Bowens and staff for giving our girl her health and happiness back. We highly recommend VNCT.

We live in both Pittsburgh, PA and Texas w/ veterinarians in both. We had used Dr. Bowens and VNCT w/ another poodle several years ago, so we were familiar w/ their sense of urgency and compassion for both owners and pets. Dr. Bowens, Steven and Francisco have worked w/ me from my first phone call from Pittsburgh, PA about my little poodle w/ signs of ruptured disc in his neck. Without questioning my "self diagnosis" Dr. Bowens called me himself to discuss possible options. Unwilling to have my dog suffer that long I chose the best possible option for my dog, Dr. Bowens and VNCT. Dr. Bowens was actually able to perform the necessary surgery within a week of my initial phone call. It has been three weeks and while we still have five more weeks of crate rest for Bucky, he is doing quite well. As our regular vet reassured my husband, Dr. Bowens "rocks"! Francisco and Steven have exercised great patience with my multiple phone calls and take time to explain everything in detail.

We took Oscar, our miniature dachshund, in for what they explained and showed us to be a ruptured disc. He had so much pain! We found out later that the night he screamed (yes, dogs scream) was the night it ruptured. VNCT staff (Steve and Dr. Bowens) explained the extent to us in terms (and with drawings) we could understand, gave us options for treatment and cost, and kept him overnight for surgery the next day. He came home sore and tender, to be expected, but a week later, he was interested in running (we had to stop him lol). Two weeks, and he's trying to sit up and beg (we have to tell him no!) and now, into the third week? Almost new! We still have to keep him from certain things, but he's a happy boy now, thanks to VCNT! They were so good- treated our dog like their own!

We took our dog Rex to our local vet in Abilene with severe back pain. After trying steroids muscle relaxers and pain pills all while caging him he was not improving. We Were given 2 options either put him down or do the surgery. We opted for the surgery and were referred to Dr. Bowens who saved our bubba. His staff is very knowledgeable and kept us informed through the surgery and after. Thank you Francisco for caring for Rex and discussing our financial options. Now he is as happy as before!! Would do this again in a heart beat. The Espinosa Family

Dr. Bowens was excellent. He was the first vet that said that Duchess needed to see a cardiologist, our current vet never mentioned seeing a cardio doctor. I wish that your clinic had a cardio vet on staff because Duchess passed away that evening. Dr. Bowens called us not long after her passing to check on her condition put was surprised to hear that she had passes. There needs to be more vets like Dr. Bowens. Also I would like to see more cardio doctors readily available for emergencies. Yesterday we received a very nice card with a special note from Dr. Bowens.

I am happy to say that 11 weeks after her surgery, Ginger is now able to walk again (although very wobbly) and use the restroom under her own power. There is a long road ahead to full recovery, but recovery is only possible because Dr. Bowens and his team were able to work true magic! Huge thanks to Dr. Bowens, Steven, Francisco and the entire staff at VNCT!!

Our dog Bear was having severe neck pain. After rounds of steroids and pain medication we were referred to Dr. Bowens at VNCT. As soon as we walked in the door of the clinic the staff greeted us with open arms. Steven carried Bear back and laid him down for Dr. Bowens to examine him. One of the disk in Bear's neck was disintegrated, needing surgery immediately. Francisco came in and explained all of the options to me. Dr. Bowens was very thorough and knowledgeable with the treatment plans. He performed surgery on Bear later that afternoon. They called me before surgery, during the surgery and at the completion of the surgery. I am happy to say that Francisco called the next morning at 8am and I could hear Bear howling happily in the background- a noise I had not heard in about eight weeks! Bear continues to heal each and every day. Thank you for restoring Bears to quality of life- for this I will ever be grateful. Nicole P. and family

Dr. Bowens and his staff at Veterinary Neurology & Neurosurgery Center of Texas (VNCT) were an absolute Godsend for us when our sweet little Beagle ruptured a disc in her neck this summer. Dr. Bowens clearly explained the necessary procedure and his staff communicated with us throughout the surgery and during her recovery. I truly feel that they cared for her as if she were their own dog. Dr. Bowens even transported her to our regular veterinary clinic for boarding himself when she was discharged because we were out of town on vacation. Excellent care, outstanding service. I would highly recommend VNCT to anyone who is looking for the best in veterinary neurology in the DFW area.

Dr. Bowens and his staff are 2nd to none! They treated one of my dogs before for a Spinal infection 2+ years ago. He did Disk surgery on another one of my Dachshunds, a week ago and he is already up walking even before his staples are out. We expect him to back to full function soon. I would never want to trust my dogs with any veterinary specialist, other than Dr. Bowens and the Veterinary Neurology & Neurosurgical Center Of Texas (VNCT) ever!!! I am so grateful to Dr. Bowens and his wonderful and compassionate staff !

My dog was diagnosed with GME after a MRI and a spinal tap. Dr Bowens started treatment immediatelyand kept over night. The office staff and doctor are very caring and sensitive to your needs. My dog after 7 days is doing much better and we are having blood work next week to see what treatment plan is best for her

On July 27, 2014, our Maltese, Fancy, had to have emergency back surgery for a ruptured disc. Our vet referred us to another surgical center to have back surgery. Unfortunately, it was not VNCT. We were not happy with the surgical center due to their lack of post op care. There was none!! I contacted Dr. Bowens' office and was very surprised and pleased when one of his technicians (Francisco) called me on a Sunday evening to see how they could help. He explained that Dr. Bowens would review Fancy's records, do an examination and consult with us on his findings. From the minute we entered the facility to the time we left, we were treated with the utmost care and compassion. Even though Dr. Bowens did not perform back surgery on Fancy, he and Steven, his technician, spent an extensive amount of time examining Fancy, explaining her surgery, what his recommendations were to help her recovery improve and answered all of our questions. We would highly recommend Dr. Bowens and his staff.

I would like to say Thank you to Dr. Bowens and his staff (at the VNCT) for the exceptional care that my JJ received, we went in not knowing the outcome and the recovery has been a lot of work but he is worth it all! The staff at the VNCT was awesome!! Thank you again, Dr. Bowens from the bottom of my heart for the care, love, and professionalism that you and your staffs provided to me and my fur baby during our time there.

Dr. Bowens & his staff are absolutely excellent & they provide the highest level of care! Our Vet referred us to VNCT for our Yorkie, Willow. We were able to see Dr. Bowens' the very next day. After a thorough exam, Dr. Bowens' provided us with his initial findings & potential diagnoses. He helped us walk through our options & provided us with critical information to make difficult decisions regarding further evaluation & subsequent treatments. Willow spent the night for further testing & treatment. Throughout the procedures & the overnight stay, Dr. Bowens, Steven, & Francisco provided us with timely status updates every step of the way. They conveyed the results of her tests & answered every question we had thoroughly & honestly. When Willow was discharged, we were provided with all the information we needed to care for Willow. I can honestly say that this was one of the best experiences I've ever had. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Bowens to anyone needing Neurological care for their pet.

I am so happy that Dr. Bowens and his staff were able to help us when Homer had his most recent problem with his neck. Thanks to their expert care, he has made a full recovery without another surgery (knock on wood!) and is now back to being pain free. I feel more secure knowing that I can call on VNCT when issues arise with him. Thanks for all you do to keep him healthy!

I was a nervous wreck because we didnt really know what was going on with our very tiny (runt of the litter) 4wk old pit bull puppy. We were referred to Veterinary Neurology & Neurosurgery Center Of Texas (VNCT) by our primary vet's clinic. I cant begin to emphasize enough what a fantastic provider Dr. Bowens is!! He took his time with us, he was extremely caring, he explained (and then re-explained) everything he felt initially could be the problem. He thoroughly explained what he felt his course of action should be & then ultimately came & spoke with us even more in depth after all his xrays & test results came back. He patiently listened to all my questions & took the time to write everything out on his dry erase board! He really helped to put our mind at ease knowing that she would be in caring hands. And his tech, Francisco, is an absolute dream! So nice & efficient as well. All in all my experience with this clinic was fantastic! The staff & Dr.Bowens truly care for animals.

Zelda, my 12 year old dog was having serious issues. Dr. Bowens was wonderful and explained what could be Zelda's issues, even writing them on a whiteboard and providing me options on her treatment. He explained the process and testing procedures thoroughly to me. Steven, his head vet tech was so helpful when I called and great with Zelda. It was comforting to know I had choses and so far Zelda's treatments are improving her health issues. I would definitely recommend anyone, without hesitation to go see Dr. Bowens (if their dog or cat is having neurologic problem) at the Veterinary Neurology & Neurosurgery Center Of Texas (VNCT). They are a wonderful and caring staff. God bless them all.

Dr. Bowens and Steven have been extremely wonderful to deal with. Dr. Bowens examined Belle and explained the surgery that might have to happen once a final diagnosis was made. His demeanor helped me remain calm so that all the right decisions could be made. Steven, his head vet-tech, has been nothing short of fabulous. He answered all of my questions with patience and was extremely professional. Dr. Bowens and Steven were diligent in their communication with me and gave me as much time as I needed. They both treated Belle lovingly.

In Feb 2014 we were devastated when suddenly our energetic Dachshund mix Romeo suddenly became paralyzed in his hind legs. It happened within 1 1/2 hours late on a Saturday afternoon. We were referred to VNCT by our emergency Vet who said that she felt strongly it was a ruptured Disc in his back. I was shocked and scared. We tried medication management for a week but didn't see any improvement. So we called Dr. Bowen's office for a consult. We waited 1 more week to gather funds for the surgery. We had many questions and VNCT was patient enough to answer all of them. There were times when I was very stressed and they remained kind and patient. We knew Romeo only had a 50% chance of ever walking again. But we had to try. It has been 9 weeks and Romeo is walking quite well. He can get around quickly, wagging his tail, even starting to scratch his ear. I highly recommend the entire team at VNCT. You won't be disappointed in Dr. Bowen or the results.
