Gregory's Seafood

Last year we ate at Gregory's on the recommendation that the Mussels Marinara were excellent and THEY DEFINITELY WERE! So good we sucked up the leftover marinara sauce with our spoons. Just recently (this year) we went back for the 2nd time specifically for the mussels. They were out of mussels! Very disappointed! We ordered fried calamari. I have never seen calamari such as this especially in fish market....small little things - all batter. Very non-appetizing to the eye and nothing to brag about. 2 of us ordered the Garlic Shrimp over linguine and my husband had to spit out 2 shrimp as they tasted like chemical. The overall taste was not good at all. I asked for some marinara sauce on the side instead of tarter sauce for my stuffed flounder (which was mediocre) and was told they would have to charge me for it. Mashed potatoes-watery and sweet baked potato was horrible. Fresh crab cakes were very good. Chowder watery. Maybe a bad night for them but we will not go back.

New to the area, but always saw that the parking lot was always packed, so we decided to try out the restaurant.The food was great.The service was terrific, and we even talked to Gregory who came over to our table to tell us about the seafood, and the story about the family owned business..The prices weren't that bad, and they even have specials.This is a casual place, but the people there treat you like family.In fact, we are going to have dinner there tonight.

super fresh seafood and delicious side dishes make this a local favorite. BYOB and outside dining available (on Rt 37 however). Service is excellent, the prices are consistent with seafood, but you do get large portions. $$$ Debbie L. Toms River
