Poor patient care and service

This location managed to mix up my chart schedule with the wrong doctor and charge me twice to provide the proper service request. The manager has poor customer service skills and does not know how to manage an office properly.

It is not uncommon for a child to have a serious vision problem without being aware of it. Your child’s primary care practitioner should screen your child’s vision at ages three and five for eye conditions such as strabismus (crossed eyes), amblyopia (lazy eye), ptosis (dropping of the upper eyelid) and refractive errors (nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism). If there is a family history or symptoms of any of these conditions, your child should see an ophthalmologist right away.

If you have an emergency during office hours, please state that immediately, and your call will be quickly referred to a technician or doctor. After hours, depending on the severity of your problem, established patients may choose to call our number for our on-call physician, or you may want to go to the Emergency Room for immediate treatment.

Macular Degeneration
Seniors need to have their eyes examined every one to two years. During this period, eye conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma and age-related macular degeneration increase with frequency, and early diagnosis can be crucial.
Laser Eye Surgery
Some people choose to correct myopia with LASIK or other types of refractive surgery. This surgical procedure is used to correct or improve vision by reshaping the cornea, or front of the eye, and adjusting eye focusing ability. Refractive surgery is usually not done in children. It is essential that the eyes are no longer growing and changing refractive error to help ensure a stable result.
Cataracts
An IV is started to give you some medicine so you are sedated. Your ophthalmologist will make a very small incision (which usually requires no stitches to close) in the eye and remove the cataract. A lens implant is then inserted into the eye which will focus light on the retina.

Eye Physicians of Central Florida ophthalmologist David B. Auerbach, D.O. was the first surgeon in Central Florida to offer cataract surgery with the new AcrySof® ReSTOR® Intraocular lens (IOL). This breakthrough technology enhances your vision and may help you to see clearly at all distances without bifocals or reading glasses. Until recently, most patients undergoing cataract surgery received artificial lenses that provided excellent distance vision. However, they still needed reading glasses to see near objects.
Eye Exam
At Eye Physicians, myopia may be diagnosed as part of a comprehensive eye examination. This may be determined in several ways. We can detect how light is focused within the eye by use of a handheld instrument called a retinoscope. This can also be determined by a machine, referred to as an autorefractor. A patient is then often asked which lenses they feel best improve their vision. This is called a subjective refraction. Children, especially, are often checked after their eyes are dilated. This may allow for a more reliable diagnosis in our younger patients. It is not necessary for a child to be able to read a chart to determine their need for glasses. This can be checked in any patient, including young babies
