Pediatric Care
Dr. Fallat returned to Louisville in 1987 to begin a practice of pediatric surgery, where she is now a tenured Professor of Surgery in the Department of Surgery at the University of Louisville School of Medicine, and the Acting Division Director of Pediatric Surgery in the Department of Surgery. Her practice is in general pediatric surgery (see general description under “Specialties”). Dr. Fallat has a special interest in trauma and burn care and is the Director of Trauma at Kosair Children’s Hospital. She is a governor-appointed member of the Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services and the Project Director for two federal grants awarded to the Board. She also has an interest in medical ethics and serves as surgical representative to the American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on Bioethics. She has a research laboratory in reproductive endocrinology, and is continuing study of the hormone MIS that she worked on as a fellow at Harvard University. Attendant with this interest is the development of surgical expertise in children with intersex anomalies.

General Info: A native of Western New York, Dr. Foley has been in practice at Norton Children’s Hospital (NCH) since 2003. He has served as the trauma medical director for the hospital since 2006, and has overseen the development and maintenance of the hospital as an American College of Surgeons (ACS) verified level I trauma center. He has also been an active member of the cancer program at NCH, having served as the hospital’s cancer liaison physician to the ACS since 2011. Dr. Foley has participated actively in the development and expansion of the hospital’s minimally invasive surgery program since his arrival. He served as the medical staff president for NCH in 2015.
